This Honda is getting the "once over". The aluminum wheels were badly pitted. I started with 100 grit and worked up to 1600 and then a good polish.
Then tires, fluids, filters, detail, etc.

Once I get back from my 30-day trip in the southern hemisphere (what winter!?), I’ll be spending the remainder of the cold season in the basement crying over drained funds and working on this Lario:
- blueprinting the top end,
- maybe opening up the gearbox to inspect the 2nd-3rd gear shift slop,
- repairing or replacing the switch gear, front master cylinder, and nose fairing,
- modifying the frame to fit the Monza tank, seat, and rear fender that I have lying in waiting.
A couple weeks ago I dissembled the bike to drag down into Tartarus. I think enjoy taking these bikes apart too much:

I have 3 going, a 2003 Cali with a drive train swap and custom seat/ side panels. It’s on the lift at the moment. Beside the tool box is a Quota I’m bringing up spot snuff with suspension, skid plate and fixing several issues. Then I have the cal III full fairing model that needs to be sorted with the carbs and timing and then a new alternator.its going to be a full winter when you mix in the chopper I’m working on for a friend. Life at Oggie’s fab house :bike-037:

This year has largely been a wash, in terms of predictable or dependable free time around family stuff. At my wife’s prompting, I’ve been fleshing out projects (mostly Ducati single & Desmo parts) to selfishly enjoy my things as much as possible and so parts will be here when time finally is available. I’ve basically replaced my inventory of nice & project bikes that I sold 20 yrs ago to support my studio.
But, the big winter project is my latest 1967 Galaxie 500. Got a crazy deal on a good 427 block & pistons last summer. So, instead of swapping out the 428 in my lingering 1967 Galaxie project, my wife “forced” me to buy something I can drive now & to have a place to use the 427 I never though I would have. This is a very nice red-on-red 83k original miles one-family car from TN. Sadly, after doing basic service of timing chain, water pump, radiator upgrade, etc, there’s a rod knocking in the original 390 that won’t allow much driving. So the 427 block is at the shop and most parts are in hand or on the way to complete the swap to 427-4spd. It will be a mostly original parts build, just a fun car. Factory cast iron 427 long exhaust manifolds, original 1967 medium riser iron heads and 1967 aluminum intake, etc. I have factory disc brakes rebuilt and ready to install from spares I’ve had for decades. The 390 is now dressed much like the 427 will be, even though it’s basically static art right now. The goal is to have it on the road by summer. Pretty stoked.

To keep it Guzzi relevant…. The battery died on the CX a few days ago, apparently an internal short, so that needs replacing. Sure does look good having it parked next to a red Galaxie on the carport. I’m thinking much harder about redoing it to correct red/black livery and was headed that way earlier this year when things got too nuts to have a bike in a million pieces.

Putting my Yamaha TT500 flat tracker back together. Clean it up, paint some things and fresh grease. Bought it last summer and got to race the Champagne IL 1/2 mile. I am hooked….

Nice hobbies eh, i have to swap latches on Hepco Becker Juniors 30L, door got knocked off by a car. Got bag used off a Red dot 98EV, not the same latch but almost. It has doors that slide shut to cover lock set and the current lock sets don't work. My bag is 98EV but not an early one newer lock is the same. I keep the same key which is still available w/lock. All I need is the rivets, sent Moto Machines a note. I'd rather use the right stuff instead of figuring all the sizes (3). Got a rivet gun from doing aircraft work. Rivet are in metric but same as 1/8" and hair bigger.
edit-------------got the rivets coming

Hoping to finish this up soon after putting the project on hold for the riding season. I had to order a flywheel puller, No spark :embarrassed: I called looking for a carb kit for a Bing, Tim @ Hugh's BULTACO told me they call that a MAKUNI. Looking forward to some Ozarks boondocks rides! :boozing:

I've got a custom CX that needs signals installed. It's got a racing style fairing with swept back arms to above the valve covers. I don't want to poke holes in the fairing, so considering bar end mirrors with integrated signals. It also drains the battery, so that needs sorting. And then I'm considering replacing the goofy CX dash with an earlier T3 style cluster.
I've got a 72 Norton Commando Combat that came to me about 60% complete - basket case, of course. Collected parts for four years and now have most everything, so I'll be working on it. Quite the learning curve being a newbie to brit bikes.
The G5 needs a bit - but at least it's running well now. The aluminum (India made) tank needs smoothing/polishing, wiring, frame paint, - all sorts of detail work.
And then there's the home front - my very messy housemate of 16 years finally moved away leaving dumptruck loads to sort and dispose of. Every day I work a bit at that project.

Just got round to Stripping for a cosmetic resto of a spada mk3 , very unloved when I bought it almost 3 years ago. I was going to build it as a special but it’s a good bike under the muck so it’s going back to original.
It’s only done 22k miles and the more I looked at it I realised it was too good to trash.
Waiting on parts back from the powder Coaters the it will be rebuild time

Still working on the "1200 Ambassador" (Norge engine in '71 Ambassador chassis) and '73 Eldo for customers. Morini 3 1/2 Sport waiting for a lift to come open, so that I can reassemble it. There's a "barn find" '73 Eldo coming around the 1st of the year for me to "make run".
Personal projects: In the parts collecting stage of building a CX100, and later in Winter will make the free V65SP roadworthy. Still need to find out why the Morini 3 1/2 is smoking from the rear cylinder. Hoping to find someone local that does dry ice blasting and have them do the Ducati Pantah engine so that I can finally make some progress on that.
Some of the CX100 parts.

Ongoing (AKA never-ending) rebuild of my old Land Rover.
Spent the last year or so fixing up the chassis and running gear, just last week finished (well almost) the engine, still needs an exhaust though.
Endless list of things to do, pondering over the bodywork now which actually looks worse than it is (mostly Aluminium so not rusty) due to the crusty paint, not something I'm looking forward to as I'm more into the mechanical side of things but, hoping to be finished next year...

Well I have plenty lined up. Summer is very busy here and I seldom have time to be in the garage so Winter is a good time to hibernate and hopefully get 'er done.
The World's Loooonest Triumph Restoration... '78 T140V Bonneville.
I am very close, after nearly a complete resto, I replaced the Boyer Mk III with an updated Mk IV and I must have crossed something or missed a ground connection or something, no spark. Great, troubleshooting shall commence.
Next lift over is the '76 CB550 that I dragged home and did quite a bit to it and the wiring stalled the progress. The poor thing showed up with Ape Hanger bars and I changed them to a nice, 2" rise bar, installing the new right hand switch which included running the wires through the bars to the headlight...!

Carbs have been gone through...
And finally, there is his '86 LeMans IV that showed up and is in need of recommissioning... I have started the process, carbs, all brake components, cables etc...

So, yeah, I have lots to do... I could bore you to tears with the home projects but, couldn't we all...?
Be well,

What a fantastic thread. :thumb:
Please everyone post plenty of pictures. Some of us really enjoy watching your projects vicariously.
I have nothing to report. Just riding the Zed for now. Probably look at valve lash again at 60 or 70k
Need to motivate myself to get my old BMW F650 back in running trim.

The original throttle body in my RE 350 Meteor has built in electronics that limit the top speed to an indicated 72 MPH. I found out that a different model, The Hunter 350 is unrestricted. I bought the Hunter item from India (the one on the right), and installed it on the bike. Test ride showed about the same slow acceleration, but now it shows an indicated 80 mph. Figure about 25-30 bucks per mph .

No bike stuff, but Ive been working on my 72 Ford LTD convertible the last few years trying to get it back on the road. Been parked for 20 years, and slowly working on getting it going. Almost made it this year, but life got in the way. Pulled it in this fall and im swapping heads, intake, and exoust. Might pop a oil pump in it also becouse hot oil PSI is a little low.

As soon as I can get it home and unloaded from the van, I need to inventory what needs to be done to my recently acquired 1991 California, one of very few with OEM PHF40s. Apparently, it is one of the ones I un-crated and did the PDI on at Midway Cycles.
First, it needs to have about a decade of shop dirt removed and the petcock issue addressed; it currently has a pair of Vice-Grips on the fuel hose.

I'm still sorting out my garages from my FINAL move, and getting things unpacked and organized. Will also be building a new garage in the Spring, so not too many projects for me, just servicing and minor upgrades to the bikes and getting ready for construction.
On the Auto front, I will be pulling the struts on my 944S2 and having them rebuilt and installing new Koni shocks/struts with all new bushings and springs over the winter.

Been recovering from multiple tibia /fibula fractures of my left leg. Happened on Friday 13 of September{go figure} Been spending lots of time since hobbling around the wood shop turning bowls , making bandsaw boxes and wooden pens for Christmas gifts. Also had time to finish a few of the clipper ship weathervanes I make as a hobby. All parts and pieces are made from scratch here including the staffs and roof mounting hardware. Easy way to kill a few months time. Love seeing what all of you are up to in this thread. Lots of talented folks here for sure. Keep them coming!

On the drum and now it shifts. I also had to fiddle with the eccentric adjustment bolt to get it to shift back down smoothly.

Un believable on what we do!!
I finished my project & bought a new tool I may not use again but I got it just in case. A German Rivet tool that goes on your cordless drill. It's the hot stuff. Had to grind tip down more like a cone. All done in 15 minutes. 7 rivets. I did practice on the broken Hepco Becker bag and old latches. It came out like factory so I'm satisfied. Got another cool tool to.

Been doing deep cleaning, polishing and repainting of emblems on the T-3. Matt the NM MGNOC rep has almost completed installing a Greg Bender wiring harness, new switches, voltage regulator, and all LED lighting including the dash and other smaller things that needed attention after almost 50 years. Should be much better than factory new in many ways. Should be done later this weeks. Last thing is to take the tank to a good detailer to work out some hazing on the black tank and general wax build up, etc. since the paint is almost 35 years old.
GliderJohn

The T-3 is back and lights up great. Starter button works first time every time now. The laundry list is getting close to completed. Matt's work is very professional looking. Everything very neat, tidy and secure. Also new AVG battery. Received a Puig windscreen extension but the fasteners that are used to attach the extension to it's mounts appear to be too large and won't work. Not an easy company to communicate with.

Since Puig appears to only have customer non-service I decided to drill out the holes a bit, that worked and the fasteners still feel very secure. To cold and windy to take a test ride.

Working on evicting a tenant. She assaulted a roommate. HOA rules say that behavior is a reason for eviction. Washer/dryer needs work. Waiting for parts. Another unit needs washer/dryer installed. Shower drain unplugged. Kitchen counter replaced. Blah....blah.....bl ah....blah......
Keeping the scooter fleet up and running. Last night got two batteries, so able to use the Yamaha YP400 Majesty for commuting today. The other scooter is a Honda PCX 150.
During the Winter break for the schools out here, I drove. Different feeling commuting in a car. Takes longer in a car because scooters/motorcycles can shoulder at a light and bypass the traffic mob.
Looks like 2 cars need oil changes. Front brake pads on the 3rd. A/C on 2. Cosmetic touches on 4 car. 5 running and 3 aren't.
Dance card is full. I still need to sort the El Camino out. Timing and vacuum leaks. Nissan Frontier and Siverado PU's are long term projects.
That doesn't count the yard. 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ Life goes on. No Winter break. NO complaints from the wife since I do the shopping/cooking. :boozing: :boozing: :boozing:

the 'pretzel' on the GRiSO has sprung a couple of leaks, so replacing that has led to an entire exhaust re-boot. Still working through sourcing/options.
G5 needs new speedometer cable, Brake system flush/cylinder rebuild and std maintenance runthrough.
other than that just std TLC for the fleet.

Made a snow pusher out of 2'piece of Hardy Board siding and a 4' piece of 2x2 with 3 self tapping 3/4" screws. Cleaned off sidewalk to let dogs out.
It'll be gone tomorrow.

Still riding when I can, but planned is insulating and boarding our new summer house (so I can safely have my ham station set up in there, and some exercise gear, maybe a practice space/banjo/bagpipes/guitar/bass). Practicing my main instrument - bluegrass banjo. Fiddling a bit with bass and the smallpipes. Walking as often as possible - its supposed to help with my polymyalgia.
Thats it!

I've put aside the MC projects until it warms up a bit and I can fix the fuel tank in my 2004 Chevy Colorado.
While it's too cold to roll around on the driveway under a truck, I've started spring cleaning early. Found this (which I'm keeping)

Then found this one. Must have bought that more than 15 years ago. The Guzzi part stuck in the back of my mind to resurface years later and lead me to the V85TT

Well, on the 2014 Honda CB1100;
I pulled the full exhaust (dual) and center stand off and saved at least 40#!
Awaiting Santa and a full Delkevic exhaust and O2 bypass.
On the 2023 V85;
Awaiting Santa and a mistral boost plug.
That is all and to all a good night!
inditx
Scrapped the exhaust on the Honda as I was warned about a few gotchas so I put the stock back on.
Trading the V85 so, they’re ya go!

I am supposed to be working on my diesel Ram. Need to change oil, oil filter, fuel filter, water separator, air filter and intake manifold filter. I also need to adjust the valves but I might let a local shop that owes me a big favor do them. I may still do them if I can find a way to turn the motor over without the special tool which also requires crawling under the truck which would require many trips back and forth. Just waiting for better weather, I don't use the truck much so no big rush I use one of my bikes for errands etc.

My 1982 BMW R100 RS, total clean up, haven’t been cleaned in years.Painted wheels, brake over haul, carbs, cables, new throttle sleeve, a pinstripes. I’m sure I left a lot out, but just one bolt on the shift lever ( broke it off inside the transmission,) a friend (genius) got the bolt out, without pulling the transmission! Just waiting on the instruments which are being rebuilt.

This is a picture from a number of years ago. It needs a complete refresh which I started last spring and then put on hold when touring season started. As soon as the weather gets better I will jump back on it. I had two 50's 40 HP Mercurys on it now I am converting to an 80's 115 HP Chrysler which was originally a West Bend.

"Groundspeed" by Earl. That's what I'm working on this weekend, when not riding or reading. I used to play it all the time....

Only thing I’ve been working on is putting more miles on my Norge!! Riding rain or shine is good for mental well being and maintaining skills.
Truth be told, I’ve spent considerable time on the Norge’s mechanicals. However, it seems to be at the point now where I can just ride and monitor things.
Also been working on a used (read crashed) front OEM fairing for my Monster S2R. I have a DP carbon “touring” fairing and screen on it now, but found myself wishing for the stock OEM set up.
It was rashed and cracked but I’ve fixed almost all of that and primered it. Got some low spots to fill and a whole lot of sanding to go. A small piece was also missing but I’ve fabbed up a new section from a bit of broken fairing I had laying around.
It has a ways to go yet before I can install it with a new to me wind screen. Hope to be done by summer…but if not, the DP set up works for now. There are several other projects at various stages of completion that I put a few hours of time on when the opportunity presents itself. Not like I get bored from lack of things to get done.

I’m just riding. Arivaca roller coaster road today. 4000 on the v85, 3000 on the v7 since start of 25.

Yesterday I ran it for the first time since reassembly, put the tank and seat on. Weather permitting, I hope to take it out for a run this coming week. So, that's what I've been working on.
