Title: Early falcone hardware plating ??
Post by: dsrdave on December 11, 2024, 03:33:31 AM
I’ve started restoration of my early falcone (1951 ish)
I believe some or all of the hardware is supposed to be black oxide and others cadmium?? Does anyone have photos from the Guzzi museum of an early falcone or can say with reasonable confidence what type of plating I need to do ?  I almost think that any hardware that Guzzi made was black and any bought in was cad ?
Thx, Dave

I`ve been an owner of a 52 Falcone for 30 years and have restored two 52`s.  Can confidently say that you are correct in that the hardware is black for the early 50`s machines.

You say all hardware??  I see some photos with mostly black but some cad.  Not sure if they took liberties with some of the hardware ?

I should also ask, does the black oxide include the washers or just nuts and bolts ?

Yes,  washers also and most little brackets, clamps etc.  It`s hard to look at photos as most of these bikes have been restored and not always to the standard.
