Title: Unsold Inventory
Post by: Bulldog9 on December 22, 2024, 05:32:56 AM
It's that time of year.... Yes yes, I know the model years run on the fiscal rather than calendar year, but as 2024 winds down, Guzzista's know all too well that their local dealer likely has 2024 (and maybe a few 2022-2023 models sitting in crates or showroom floors as 2025 looms large.

I don't follow the larger market for sales and such, but I was surprised to see this article about KTM having a large surplus.

https://www.rideapart.com/news/745178/ktm-years-worth-of-unsold-motorcycles-insolvency-bankrupt/

Anyone know what is going on to cause this other than KTM reached a saturation point for super high performance motorcycles with little tykes color schemes (or Stihl chainsaws if you prefer)?

And while we are on the topic, how did Guzzi sales go overall in your area? Are dealers sitting on large unsold stock, or are they just ones and twos?

Here are a few dealers from my area some good deals to be had!

KTM has a LOT of problems right now, financial problems being the worst of them. Plus the latest issues with manufacturing or design, which is excessive camshaft wear on some models. There were also some models that had some grenading of the motors going on last year or before , maybe I don't know if its the same issue.
We'll see what happens in 2025, they have a plan, supposedly--

Bikes are now stacked in our local dealer show rooms.  Lots of automobiles are showing up on the car lots again - and the used car lots are filling up.

I'll be keeping an eye on the spring "clearance" events.

Gotta wonder if the "sales" prices are actual or are the pre-BS fee's. We all too often see internet ad's with extreamly low prices then once in the dealership OTD price jumps several thousand dollars to cover all the hidden fee's.

Maybe stop manufacturing for a year or two?

If that bike was at Cadre at that price I would be very tempted.  All the way from Washington would be a lot of shipping charges to either of us.

Ship?

I'd just drive down and pick it up with the rack on the Rover.

International Motorsports here in Vancouver (B.C) have stock coming out the wazoo, (in both of their stores) ! A month or two ago most prices were $1000 to $1200 off .
Last week some were up to $4000 off , the V100 was almost reasonable . They carry nearly every non Japanese brand and sales must of been pretty modest . One can hardly make it to the parts department for the jammed showroom . Pretty much all the same bikes I've seen there for months ( the floor plan payments must be coming due soon   :) . A half dozen loaded Indian Chiefs , and another half dozen MV Agustas etc. etc .
As a side note , last April I paid in advance for a small part for my 2001 Jackal motor , this is the 5th change in shipping date , now possibly Jan 2025 . That Piaggio group is truly pathetic !
Good thing I'm a sucker for Guzzi's , 'cuz it'd be pretty hard to suggest to some one new to buy a new one . That's my rant , Have a Great Xmas !

Oh, not Washington state?  Didn't know there were any dealers of any kind in Washington DC.  Ah, they are in Arlington, VA.

Dang man, go for it!  You know you want to.  Do you really want three V7s?
