Thanks... :thumb:  :boozing: ....

Over the last four months, and since I sold my Centauro GT last September, I looked at a lot of possibilities: V7 850 Guzzi, Triumph T100 Bonneville, Triumph Speed 400, Royal Enfield Himalayan / Hunter / Meteor / 650 INT / Honda 500 / Kawasaki 500, etc.

NOTE:  This was the first time in 49 years that I did not have a motorcycle in the garage, so it was time to step up and make a decision...

Nice one JJ. Price seems pretty reasonable.

Are there any dealers near you?

Hopefully you can do ride report soon…

prediction, you’ll love the belt drive.

Thanks sdcr, and yes, the Guzzi dealer, who also handles Benelli and Moto Morini, is in Prescott, AZ, about an hour or so away from where I live.  Also, ride report coming soon...Still a little "CHILLY" up here in northern AZ....

I saw the X-cape version in Reno last year. That was a good looking bike. The Calibro reminds me a little of the Honda CMX Rebel (not a bad thing at all). I read the motor is a clone of the old 650 ninja? Should be solid with good preformance.

Congrats!

Yes, the motor is borrowed from the Kawasaki 650, and made a little larger at 693cc.

At 68 HP and 6-speeds, it should cruise comfortably at 70-75 mph on the highway, and that's just fine.

Congrats on the new ride.

Both of my local Guzzi dealers carry the Morinis as well.  Next time I get out that way I'll have to check out the bagger version.

The BAGGER version is nice, also, but all black, and I wanted some color, plus it was $800 more. Still, a good value!

I was completely unaware of this line.

Kinda neat and rather attractive from a price and feature standpoint.

Why the Calibro over the STR Street? Seat height, style?

I like them both but would find it hard to say no to a little more fuel capacity and I like the looks of the STR.

Not that it matters as I have no reason to stray from my V7's.

Still neat. Keep us posted about your experiences and enjoy!

Thanks, Kev m!! :boozing: :thumb:

Seat height was a BIG issue for me.  I have a 30" inseam so I wanted to be "FLAT FOOTED".  The 650 STR's were nice, but I liked the look of the Calibro better.

Also, 443 pounds is a manageable weight.  The gas tank hold 3.9 gallons, so at 48-50 MPG (??), should be good for 200+ miles.  The seat is really comfortable.

I am 70 now, so my aggressive riding and "GO FAST" days are long over.  Yes, will let you know after a few hundred miles what I think... :thumb:

It's been in the low 20"s in Green Valley every morning too. But, it gets to 65 by noon giving 4 hours of gret ridding.
Send me a PM when you get it and bring it down here for a couple of days. I always have a spare bed.

No dealers here.  I think I am done buying bikes for now.  Going to focus on travel the first few years of retirement.  That and some improvements around the homestead.

Thanks, inditx.  YES, there are holes drilled on each side and one CAN move the pegs back. :thumb:  I am going to ride it for now as is and see how it feels.

Yes, I did also look at the Super Meteor and Shotgun from RE.  The Calibro 700 just felt better in the saddle, overall.

I was looking at both of those models, there are some that have Seiemmezzo as a prefix. Obvious Italian, I looked it up, it means 6 1/2. I was looking at the dealer's website which doesn't say much.

I like the low pipe. Why is it that almost every motorcycle manufacturer thinks that exhaust pipe(s) need to point up to the sky? A properly designed pipe and placement wouldn't be a clearance issue, other stuff will drag first. Besides I don't get over that far anyway. Old has its advantages. :azn:

I visited my local Morini dealer this afternoon and bought some cycle cleaner.  Based on JJ's recommendation I checked out the new Morini's.  They did not have one of JJ's model in stock, but they did have 2 leftover 6.5's.  (The one in the pic.)  It's a standard version of JJ's bike.  I damn near pulled out the credit card on the spot.  $3999.  That is one heck of a lot of bike for under $4K

MM is putting out some very tasty models. I ALMOST traded my Stornello TT in for their ADV model X Cape. Great bike, decent motor, great components, beautiful style and assembly quality, but as I rode away, I realized that my money was better kept in My Pocket.

Hi inditx - Just sent you a personal message.

So far so good.  I have 400+ miles on it now, and first service is at 600 miles.

I will be riding it to the New Mexico Guzzi Rally in Datil Aug. 14-17, (300+ miles one way), so I will file a full report then.  I added a tank bag and tail bag for this trip.

It is light and nimble and quite "sporty", plus it fits me just fine.  The seat is very comfortable.

With 60HP, a DOHC twin cylinder motor, borrowed from Kawasaki, and a smooth belt-drive,  it cruises easily at 70+ mph down the freeway.

I like it so far, much to the "shock & awe" of all my local Guzzi buddies...    More to come...

It’s got a bit of a CF Moto thing going on, would be nice if it looked a bit more “Italian” but I guess none of that will matter when you ease into the breeze and head out.
Good on you for being prepared to break into a different genre’ and not being bound  to conventional wisdom of what’s “best”.
