“We’ve been working for a long time to bring as much manufacturing to the U.S. as possible,” Melvin told us about his desire to lean on American suppliers. He proudly notes that engine cases and the SC’s gas tanks and fenders are sourced from suppliers in Michigan, and frames are crafted in Pennsylvania. The Dunlop Q5S tires are manufactured in Buffalo, New York. Buell’s factory is in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Buell’s newest American partner is Fox Factory, which will be building high-performance suspension components for the SC. A 43mm inverted fork will sit up front, while a direct-acting monoshock will damp the rear end."
$25,900 MSRP. Yowza! 🤪 The article has an attached Youtube video. 1190cc's. 175hp.

That sure is ugly

Neat bike, and I wish them luck. The motorcycle market doesn't seem like it's in the best shape right now. Maybe they should bring back the Blast ( but make it so it doesn't totally suck this time)
-
I'll believe it when I see it.... Have had my deposit in on the Sport Tourer for 3+ years now.....
-
Barf.
-
Maybe they should reconsider….” the FXR was our muse”….why?🤮
-
I'm glad I saw it here. I won't go look for it.
That is one ugly seat!!! I'm not one to judge the look of seats as I've ridden on the commonly called ugliest of seats, Russell's, for over 20 years and easily a couple hundred K miles. But that is one ugly seat!!!
The exhaust pipe in the video just looks ridiculous from the rear.
Did I read a 4 gallon tank? Any ideas on MPG? OK for a bar hopper but better keep an eye on your miles so you don't end up on the side of the road.
I don't think the radiator could look more like an after thought. I don't usually take notice of radiators, isn't that kinda the idea?
Glad to hear they got away from the Harley motor.
-
I think it needs a much bigger radiator.
-
Compared with this mess, a Sportster S (which I think is fairly ugly) is actually pretty decent, and an Indian Scout is just plain gorgeous! And each is a lot less money, and produced by companies that actually have a reasonable dealer presence in the US.
-
Needs more cowbell..

Since "looks" is what sells motorcycles, I dont think this Buell will be very popular, although, FWIW, I have noticed at recent "harley gatherings" that the performance look, with that type of seat , knarly dirt bike pegs, and race inspired pipes is getting popular. I guess its a variation of the "club bike" look, of a few years back. It all starts in California!

All Buells are ugly.

Like Moto Morini and Benelli...... it wears the name but is it................
-
Exactly... another post-Erik Buell, Buell. It's driving the "bad weather bikers" wild. The BRP-Rotax engine is awesome, but I don't think Roland Sands did a great job shoehorning it into a cruiser. It will sell with folks who buy or build "club bikes" and want the high performance of stunt bikes, whether or not they make use of it. How big is that market though? I'd have a lot more fun spending that MSRP elsewhere, but I'd sure like to test ride the Super Cruiser just to see if it's a performance cruiser - or a cruiser that managed to out-frankenbike the Honda Rebel.

I was at the Guzzi Dealer in Westchester earlier this year. Nice selection, and great staff. They carry all the Piaggio marques, but also Triumph and a few others including MM and Benelli. They had good selection. Overall, the bikes seem well built and equipped. The Xcape's motor is a Kawasaki design built by CF Moto in China, and final assembly is done in Italy from what I understand. Brembo Brakes, Bosch ABS & fuel injection systems. The bikes are nicely styled, and seem to be a good value, but.....
When it comes to the "New" Buell, the prices are unrealistic. I really like the RW&B Hammerhead and the Super Touring. The Cruiser is hideous looking. Not a single proportion looks right to me. I put a $50 deposit down on the ST at least a couple years ago, and I would have considered it, but got tired of waiting, and grabbed a well sorted Norge in the beautiful Pearl White.
Buell is gonna end up being a niche club brand and dip into obscurity. One thing that struck me on their website, they CLAIM that the motor is "All American V-Twin"...... I thought this was a Rotax motor built in the US and similar to the one in the Pan America? Buell claims 185....... That's stout for sure. A bit too much IMO.

Prices are prices. Unrealistic to some realistic to others. $20,000 and $30,000 motorcycles are not that uncommonplace. No different than car or trucks. Those $110,000 F350 dually are insanely priced IMHO but there is no shortage of them rolling around.
I'm holding out for Zongshen Britton with a blue and pink color scheme and knockoff 200cc clone engine from a 80's Honda.

This should put the brakes on a lot of potential buyers....
The Buell’s MSRP is $25,900.

I haved owned a total of 4 Buells, 3 tubers and an XB. I was happy with what they were, but every generation got farther from the truth. I cannot afford an RSS , but I do have an extremely well sorted 1998 S3T. All the cool upgrades, carbureted and more comfortable and fun than should be allowed. You could almost buy a comparable Buell Tuber ( S1, S2, X1, M2) for about the sales tax on that bloated childish cartoon character of a bike. They will never be accepted as real Buells. Like Ferrari in the post Enzo era, they are machines with no soul.

I do not own a Buell, and I understand your argument, but I think it's rubbish. It's only my opinion, just like yours, and since you stated your's I stated mine.
The elitist notion that any Buell after x, or any Ferrari after Enzo, or Guzzi post Aprilia have no soul is just elitist BS.

I see your point, and perhaps I used the wrong turn of phrase. As each generation of any machine gets more refined and developed, it gains in every performance parameter other than nostalgia and value for dollar.
I’ve never owned a Ferrari so maybe I should steer clear from that. If the visionary who conceived and built something,…Carrol Shelby, Don Yenko, John Cooper, Karl Abarth, after these men had died, can you really say the new Mini is a John Cooper aka mini cooper? Is the Fiat Abarth actually an Abarth? Many Shelby owners (of which I am not one) would say even the Dodge Shelby’s are legit because he approved and was involved with the design. The new Shelby is a better car than the original cars, but is it really a Shelby because someone sold the name to Ford?
Undoubtedly the the last generation of California El Dorados were far superior to the 1970s namesake, but did they garner the same connection, or provide the visceral experience of the Loop frames? Roland Sands built a hell of a bike, maybe a real Icon, but Buell is just a name he bought for marketing. Erik had zero to do with it.
For the record, I don’t think any hardcore Guzzisti can be elitest, we would need a Dianese jacket and a Ducati for that.

Excellent explanation of your position, I think you’re spot on with your further musings.

I wonder if one of the Cyber Truck designers designed that seat...........

Wow , it's hard to unsee just how butt ugly that bike is
-
Yep…
If I may draw a crass comparison ?
I’m sure it feels good down there, but whatever you do ?
DON’T LOOK DOWN…!

Not only are the looks "interesting" to say the least, you get to shell out big bucks for it too. Such a deal. I remember when revival of the Henderson Super X was attempted in the late 90s, a far better economic time where wealth was more distributed here in the US so it should have had a chance at success. That bike actually looked pretty good, but there was no real support for it and very few dealers and it didn't last long. I would expect a similar fate for this venture.
This is just my thumb nail analysis and while it is negative, I believe that it would be good for the market if another bike could succeed.
