Title: '24-'25 V85 Travel Wind Protection
Post by: JHBettsSr on March 15, 2025, 09:02:35 PM
I have the '25 V85TT. I'm looking for reviews on the '24-'25 V85TT Travel with the larger windscreen and additional side deflectors. How is the wind protection? Is there any buffeting? Do you love or hate the larger windscreen? I'm considering adding the larger windscreen and side deflectors. Any reviews on the Travel wind protection pros and cons would be very helpful. Thanks!

I was under the impression that the 25 bikes all had the upgraded wind protection.  No?
And as far as that goes what works for one is no guarantee of working for another.

I solved the issue on my 2022 with a Palmer Products (UK) bracket and a stock travel screen.  This was after trying about 8 different combos!  Oh, and mickey mouse ears, too.  Good up to the tested 90 per.

Having had several motorcycles with the same basic style as the V85 (screen out in front by a good distance) I understood that it would be some trial and error to get it right.  It's the nature of the design.  And then there's all the human variables.  Height, torso, helmet choice, posture, seat height, it goes on and on.

I have a 25 V85tt. While buffeting isn’t a big issue you still get a pretty good wind blast. Not sure riding all day against 40 mph headwinds might get a little old.
I will be looking for an alternative too.

2025 V85TT here, as well.
Have installed the larger touring screen and winglets from the '25 Travel.
Very comfortable cockpit and minimal wind noise.

Hey K of F... What palmer products item did you put on your '22 v85?
I put a Calsci screen on my '23 Travel, winglets and a small laminar lip, resulted in a lot less buffeting & noise.  My '12 wee Strom Adv with factory screen & w/factory laminar had none of the noise & buffeting issues, I thought MG resolved those items for '25!!??

https://www.palmerproducts.co.uk/category/all-products?Brand=Moto+Guzzi+V85TT  This is it.

As for the 25's, I also thought based on reports I read that the issue was addressed well.  This post was the first I've seen saying the 25 was a problem.  So, maybe it's not a 25?  All riders are different-who knows.

I was surprised MadStat didn't fix the issue as I've had tremendous success with other screens from them.  At any rate, Palmer works fine.  Took about half hour to get it dialed in.

I had it up to 95 this morning on a breakfast run with Turin.

I think a lot depends on what you are used to. As I said no buffeting on my V85 but still not a lot of wind protection.
The taller KLR factory windshield is about perfect. The stock Tiger XC shield was terrible with the buffeting but the Madstad took care of that.

All three 2025's do have updated wind protection. The "TT" and "Strada" have small windscreens and no side deflectors, the "Travel" has a larger windscreen and side deflectors. I'm thinking of buying the larger windscreen and deflectors for use on my '25 TT when touring for long distances.

I agree, my '25 TT is also fine for traveling a few hundred miles without much wind. But I'm thinking of buying the large "Travel" screen and deflectors for touring, then changing back to the stock screen for riding around town and short day rides.

I'm glad it's working well for you. Now that you have confirmed adding the large "Travel" screen and deflectors to a '25 TT is working well I guess it's time for me to get them on order. Thanks so very much for the advice.

Well, I did it. I installed the "Travel" screen and "Wind Deflectors" on my '25 V85TT.
On long highway rides it is more comfortable now. For about $300.00 it was well worth it. The only drawback is that the bike isn't as sporty looking with the larger screen (to my eye anyway). The "Touring" screen is about 3" taller and an inch or two wider. The wind protection now is about 30% better than stock. Fortunately, it's very easy to change the screens from "Stock" to "Touring" and back again in just a few minutes.

The clear screen helps to not make it appear big. I have a SP fairing on my T-3 and was amazed at how much smaller it appeared when I went from a smoked screen to a clear one.

At 168cm tall I don't have issues others have. I find any position (Strada) - 3 or higher is good enough to not have air hitting my helmet. The lowest position has me in clean airflow. Position 2 has it hitting the top of my helmet. Generally leave it position 3. I don't detect any issue with air coming up from the forks so for me no need of the "ears"

That's what I thought too. But nmroadrunner and I have both found that the "ears" do make a difference.

Got a source for those “wind deflectors”?  Are they a Guzzi part?

Unfortunately, GIVI doesn't make their AIRFLOW SPECIFIC SCREEN, https://giviusa.com/products/af8203-airflow-specific-screen  for the 2025. This is a much larger screen than the factory tall screen and it has the advantage of the screen height being adjustable even while riding. I have this screen on 3 different adventure bikes, and they have all been a vast improvement on the stock screens. When riding on the street I keep the screens in a taller position and when I go off road, they get lowered all the way down. Another nice advantage is the movable part of the screen, which is the same for all 3 bikes and most likely to become damaged over time, is inexpensive to replace at about $67.

My deflectors came from the Guzzi dealer. This Guzzi kit contains mounting bushings, screws, washers etc. P/N 2S002230:

2024 and 2025 should be the same. I see Givi US is out of stock but a few vendors in Italy show them. I would order one from there but not sure how this tariff thing is going to be charged if at all.

Cam,
Let me know if that fits our older V85's.  I'll pass it along to few guys I know not on the forum.
Thx

Just took a ride with my new Travel Windshield on my V85TT. Much improved vs the stocker and no buffeting. Wind was light and just enough air got around it to keep cool as it got up to 85 here today. Warm for us northerners.
