I've only had the V7 for around a month . Very happy, she has soul! Either cruising around or thumping along the hwy. I feel cool on this bike. She elicits the same response as a teenager thrashing around and feeling alive. Although apart of her unique alive personality the choppy power down delivery , jolting and vibrations left desire for improvement. Did alot of reading about Guzzidiag. Made sure I need what I was doing. Ordered the gear , did some tests and confirmed with mark that the OG map was backed up, before hitting the "Flash" button. Wow. She is now smooth as butter all the way through the rev range. I can burble around at 20kph in first or second without any flat spots or jutter, the power delivery revs out alot smoother, she is happier and smoother at higher revs and there is no vibration at higher rpm. Before the remap when at speeds of 100km/h the engine didn't seem that happy ( overall unhappy and grumbly);now at 100kph even in 4 th gear she is singing . Still more out of 4th ...Another spurt to 120 in 4th before changing to 5th with increased torque. There is less engine braking and complaining on descel. Still some back popping but only quite ones and I like them tbh. Overall my expectations where well exceeded and this engine is now very happy and singing. She has had her potential opened and the rev s out with more torque and power. Glad I did this change, I was slightly sceptical but damn I'm amazed . Thanks Mark :bike-037:

I just did my 16 V7II. I had thought it was as good as it could be. Boy was I wrong. Best money I ever spent on the v7II.
I'm going to do my 17III when I get back to Georgia.

Do you have exhaust on your bike or is it bone stock? I've also got a 2014 but with Agostini mufflers with the baffles in. I've bought 3 maps from Mark and play around with them each year. Sometimes I think I can tell the difference and other times I'm not so sure. I should spend a bit more time dialing it in this year.

I have staintune pipes, so I went with the no cat no db killers map. Still have to warm up a bit before chugging off otherwise gears are a bit rough and sometimes she can stall. Still have a decent amount of decel popping but they are quite ones...silent and deadly. Only thing I did was upload map then auto relearning. No throttle relearning as mine was already at .9. wasn't sure if I was to reset auto relearning before or after uploading map, so went with after map upload. I'm a bit afraid to do any more tinkering around like a monkey pulling a wrist watch apart haha

Same here- a Beetle map was the best money I've spent on my daughter's V7ii. It's a fine bike, and based on limitations in the design, I didn't expect any more power of it. What we got was a bike that simply runs as it should. Maybe better than it should. Well done, Mark.

Mr. Pacman, we seem to have similar bike setups. I also have the 2014 V7, agostini pipes w/baffles, and beetle mapped. I for sure noticed that the map smoothed out the acceleration in 2nd to 3rd gears for me. It made my 2nd gear seem shorter, meaning that I after the re-map I shift to 3rd at a lower speed than I did on the stock map. Overall, this makes the acceleration feel better to me. I also get much fewer pops out of the muffler on my deceleration. Like Wfm333 says, I will still get a few pops here and there when decelerating but nothing like it was before the re-map.

Nice! Yes second does feel shorter now you mentioned it. 4th feels like a new gear now. I can ride in 4th at 100kmh without immediate desired to change into top. I have noticed that she is more likely to stall and have flat spots if I ride off without warming the engine. Never stalled before the map , just ran poor. Did you notice any difference in stalling and more need to warm up before engaging the gears? Cheers

Out of curiosity, do you know which map you are using from Beetle? Mine is: V7-1TB-NoCat-9F12-2017.09.07. I'm still getting some lag in 2nd and 3rd gear. Wonder if I need to buy a new updated map if Mark has changed it.

Mine is V7 1TB Aftermarket Exhaust - No Cat/No dB Killer" map. It said 2025 but not sure if has made any changes compared to 2017.

Interesting that your bike has the baffles in but the map labeling suggests it's for a bike without the baffles. Maybe it's a variable that doesn't make much of a difference.

Yeah I wasn't sure either. Told mark which pipes I had and he recommended that map. I don't think there's much packing in the staintunes as they are quite loud. I'll post a pic

This is the one I bought. I don't have the exact file name with me right now, but I bought it 2 years ago. V7 1TB Aftermarket Exhaust - No Cat +dB killer (includes 'Shorty' style) USD $100
But as it says, I did remove the catalytic converter can from the bottom of the bike. That I did before adding the map, and removing the can made a big difference in the 'snatchy' feel in first gear where the throttle seemed very sensitive. Removing the can made first smoother. Adding the re-map made 2nd and 3rd better and reduced the popping I had when I was running the Agostinis and the stock map.

?!?
Can from bottom?
The crossover?
I could be wrong but I thought the cats were always in the mufflers and not in the crossover?
What am I missing?
-
Rather than beat the subject up here, I'd just contact Mark and give him the info and issues. He is great to work with and I bet he sends you a revised map.
Kev, as far as I remember you are correct. I think he means the evap can.
-
Yup I agree w/Kev both my V7’s have the cats in the front section of the mufflers . Or should I say “had “. Strictly for off road or closed course use only !

My mistake

Yep I have contacted Mark, with photos. Will try and find a part number with specs. I suspect im running the wrong map as I still have the cat converter. Hopefully he can exchange the wrong map with the correct one. For some reason I thought he was familiar with this pipe. My fault, should have clarified. There are still some remaining niggles and new ones from remap. Still better than original but not quite there post one week after placebo.

WTF is "cat converter"? There is no such thing on a 2014! You have us, and I'm sure Mark, confused.
-
I don't know what it is as I'm not mechanically minded. A previous poster asked about it and it got me wondering if the staintunes have a cat converter or baffling restriction going on rather than being a completely open muffler without any baffling or guts. I imagine no cat no db killer map is for exhaust systems with no guts whatsoever. I was merely questioning if that map is suitable for my staintunes. They domt appear to have any restrictive baffling but they have some mesh and baffling around the internal surface . The pipe tapers but is quite open all the way through. So I was trying to find out if I had installed the correct map or whether I should have gone with an updated stock map as staintune doesn't believe remapping is needed. Hopefully that clears up your confusion!
-
I'm speaking with Mark and will then report my conclusion.

Oh, so I'm pretty sure the OEM mufflers for V7's, at least all the 1TB models, but maybe the earlier ones too, have catalytic converters IN the outlets.
These days even some aftermarket mufflers come with them because of strict emissions enforcements in some markets.

Absolutely, talk to Marc and go from there.
-
So I ended up discovering that I actually installed the no cat plus db killer. Mark sent me the No cat / No db killer which I installed this morning and reset throttle and auto relearning.
I immediately noticed that she is less forgiving when engaging gear while engine is cold ( no more stalling)
The biggest change is how all the gears have equally good power and and torque right through the rev range. No flat spots and a quicker response between twisting throttle and power output. It was hard to find a spot to twist through all the gears rev ranges. Got some extra top end torque for sure now. 100km/h made the Speedo shake a bit but now 100 to 120kmh is very smooth and would have enough left to overtake a truck with ease. I think her full potential has been opened up now . I dont crave any more torque or power in the suburbs and on the freeway anymore. Will be touring on her later this month , can wait to test the refreshed tuneup on the highway. Got a marlin coming too. Just gotta save up a ridiculous amount of money for racks and luggage next. Not much out there for the V7 1 and 2 as far as aftermarket hardware. Anyway. Happy days . Ride in peace my friends :bike-037:

Givi used to have some 8201 (I think) bag mounts. You might be able to find some used. I made a set for my 2015. There are cheap throw over leather bags out there that work well. Look at the Buffalo ones at Rev Zilla.
