looking for a bit more midrange bump and have a B10 cam lying around
Anyone BTDT?
Anyone know if it will work?
-
IIRC didn't the Cal-Vin come with the Breva 1100 motor internals? I took this to include the valve train, but I never checked it piece by piece.
-
Yes, Breva 1100 which may be better than a B10. Check specs in Guzziology

have done my guzziology homework,
the cam in the cal vin is tamer than the B10 hence my question
-
I'm 99 % positive it will work .
You just need to check the various clearances that are affected when you increase the valve lift : piston and valve to valve, valve keeper to valve guide clearance, correct shimming of valve springs.
I've done it with P3 ago cams and also raceco SS2's and they all fitted without major work on T3 and Lm round barrel heads. No reason why a lower lift cam with less timing would not go into a calvin without the necessary checks.

The 2V Griso I put a MegaCycle cam into breathed into the front cover per stroke through the cam. There was no mention of this in any shop manual. We didn't modify cam and it breathed fine. We did have to grind some off the cyl studs cause rockers were in contact. That may have been from the skimming off head for squish. BUT that's a Griso not Cali block. Keep your eyes open. Good luck.

And if you want to get really creative , you can modify the distributor mount hole and install a distributor with your favourite ignition now that you'll have a distributor
drive gear on your cam  . ( And yeah it's a sh*t load of work by hand) !
