That's where the Startus Interuptus came from Lucas Starters on smallblocks in 80's. Guzzi did not put them on bigblocks. They worked like a Bosch.

One day I was riding over to a buddy’s house who happens to sell British bike parts on my 850 LeMans. Suddenly lost a cylinder and limped along until I got there. Replaced the dead Marelli coil with a Lucas coil and it got me home.

That was the funniest thing I have read in months. I had tears running down my cheeks.

Did a little trials play riding today with a bunch of guys 65-78 years old.
I told the 78 year old host the story of the Lucas Push.
He has a Triumph cub and told the story of how back in the day, he and two friends who all had English cars would spray down their distributors with WD-40 on "damp" days before they drove to a local community college.

We named our son Lucas. For many reasons but one a nod to vintage euro bikes. LOL
