Title: V7 II keys
Post by: Air-Cooled on April 30, 2025, 02:34:58 PM
I have a 2016 V7II Stornello that I want to make extra keys for.  I can easily get the proper blank and have it cut, but I don't know if the keys for this bike require transponder programming.  It you ask Google, their AI says no programming necessary. If you search the internet you get answers both yes and no.  The owners manual does not address this (if it does, then I can't find it)! The local dealer does not even know.  They just say buy it from us, take it to a locksmith, and bring it back to us for programming if it doesn't work.

Does anyone here who has a 2016 Stornello, or even a 2016 V7II know the answer?  Thanks!

None

I'm about 99% sure the V7III doesn't even have one either..

Edit - a Google search suggests even the EU4 and EU5 V7 850's don't have transponder keys.

Thanks Kev.  I have to say, I despise keys that require a transponder code.

My V7II 2016 uses a regular key..no fancy electronics.
I think it uses a fiat blank..but not sure. I got mine at home depot!

Ride safe and often...

I had a locksmith almost stumped trying to make a spare for my 2013 when he discovered a Volvo blank was all that would work.

You can get OEM blanks on Amazon with next day delivery.  Cheaper than waiting for the dealer to order, driving to the dealer in a week or more to pick it up, driving to a locksmith to grind it. I have a set coming tomorrow.

$59!!!!
I got a Silca blank cut from a photo of my original, on eBay for about £10. The Breva only had one key and now I keep the original at home.

I bought 10 of them here for $18 shipped for all ten. They have gone up a little but still reasonable.

These keys worked for my V7C and my V11 sport and also for Jackals, EVs, Bassas, CalVin and others.

$59 is pocket change these days. Take your wife out to dinner and the bill will be double that -- even before the 20% tip.  The Amazon keys are OEM.

This attitude is why people get ripped off - money to burn.

Here they are, ordered on Amazon yesterday. Arrived today and ground at a nearby lock shop.  Both work perfectly. As the folks above said, no transponder programming needed.

Concur that no transponder necessary for V7 line.

I have 2 keys for all my bikes save the Convert. I live in fear of losing that key! I've never lost a key, but that's because I have a backup.

Ideally I'd like to have 3 keys, especially when on a long ride. One in the tank bag in case the night prior had moments of 'lost memory and keys'
