Title: So many hoses
Post by: Ken49 on May 16, 2025, 05:29:20 AM
Hi all. I have a 2006 California 1100 and would like some comments on the plethora of breather hoses on the bike.
There is a breather hose coming from each cylinder which is connected to the frame near the airbox. Then another hose from the frame at the steering head, this one then goes back to the airbox itself. At the bottom of the airbox there is a smaller hose which drops down behind the gearbox. Finally yet another hose from the top left rear of the gearbox which also just drops down to below the gearbox.
Why such a circuitous route for engine breathing, and the last two hoses just seem to vent to atmosphere, right where oil could be dumped onto the rear wheel.
Anyone got any comments or explanations?
Cheers, Ken

I just replaced all these hoses on my 99' Bassa. I too was amazed. Also, so many connections to the gas tank. Never had a bike with a gas tank so challenging to remove/install.
