Hello out there in the Land of Luap. I liquidated my Guzzi holdings years back and bought a BMW R1200R. Fantastic bike- no complaints. My problem is that I have discovered an open spot in my garage and the law of conservation of mass demands that it be filled. I'd like something a bit better suited to occasional trips on the slab. I have a windscreen for the R12, but it's not great (seems to just redirect the blast at my head).
In scanning the classifieds, it seems that there are 8V Stelvios (2015 vintage) available for short dollar. What is the consensus on this generation 8V 1200 mill? How is the long term reliability of these Piaggio machines? The used price seems to be spectacular- especially compared to a BMW GS. I rented a 1200GS and was surprised at how well it behaved on the highway. I absolutely get it why they are so popular.
Of course, the new Mandello seems to be the sportstourer of choice, but they naturally will be twice the price (used) of an 8V1200 Stelvio.

A well sorted Stelvio is still a good choice and will give a lot of performance for the dollar. Just make sure it is "rollerized" .
Don't overlook the V85TT. It's a great all around machine with some great deals to be had. There's a very nice 2022 in Guardia d'Onore trim with low miles in Iowa on Marketplace for $7800. A steal at that price

Welcome Back, I remember you. There are a fair amount of Older Stelvios available around Seattle - Oregon for reasonable price.

Stelvios and V85’s are good mounts for sure but not sure if you’re riding 2 up and what your dimensions are or age for that matter.
Why I ask is because the Stelvio is top heavy although once going handles really well and wind management on it was not good. I couldn't resolve mine on my 2013 anyway.
Speaking of wind management the V85 needs to be well sorted, see the many posts here and over at ADV, unless you buy a new V85, they supposedly have sorted it all out for you.

If you can handle a GS you can handle a Stelvio,no problems in wind other than when it is blowing you sideways due to the height I think.Nice one here in WI another in TX.

I loved the 2012 Stelvio I had. It was fantastic. The trade I'll regret forever. If you find a good sorted Stelvio, ride the snot out of it. They're awesome IMHO.
