The very northeast portion of Connecticut is often referred to as the “quiet” corner because of its tranquil, rural nature and laid-back lifestyle. But on Sunday, June 8, it turned into “quite” the corner for Guzzi guys and gals.
That’s when the New England MGNOC contingent convened at the Woodstock (CT) Trading Post for its annual Spring Fling. Due to its central locale…in the middle of nowhere…riders arrived from Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
The Trading Post was formerly known as Sweet Evalina’s Stand and has long been the Guzzisti go-to…to kick-off our new riding season. Also new is the ownership and a name change. But that hasn’t diminished its appeal as a cordial, two-wheeled New England destination. With wonderful, two-lane twisty roads, to and from. Plus, a fine, full menu and generous seating, both inside and out.
As usual, we parked across the street in the expansive Woodstock Post Office parking lot, which we had all to ourselves. Old acquaintances were rekindled and new friendships formed, as tires were kicked and tall tales were told. After a long off season…so it was sure nice to reconnect.
Rhode Island dealer Gordon Razee was on hand for the festivities. And oh by the way, we certainly had a pleasant lunch, and Mother Nature was fortunately, quite quiet, too!
Here’s what rolled in…”by the time we got to Woodstock:”
Moto Guzzi (18)
Eldorado V7 Special
Eldorado V7 Stone Centenario
T3 V7 Stone Corsa
LeMans III V9 Bobber
LeMans 1000 V85 TT
V11 Stone V85 TT Centenario
Stelvio NTX V85 TT Guardia
Stelvio NTX Stelvio
V7 Special Stelvio
FYI, we also always promote our New England MGNOC events as Moto Guzzi “and More”… in the interest of accommodating our deprived, Guzzi-less friends and fellows. So…here you go:
And More (12)
BMW /2 - R100S Combo Honda Valkyrie Hack
BMW R100RS Kawasaki Z900
BMW S1000 XR Kawasaki Versys
BMW R1250 RS Triumph 1200 Tiger
Honda Gold Wing GL1000 Yamaha MT-07
Honda Gold Wing Yamaha Tracer 900 GT
Beyond our usual third-Sunday-of-the-Month CT-RI breakfasts in Higganum (CT), next up is the New Hampshire ONE-DAY Rally that’s scheduled for Saturday, July 19 at the Surry Mountain Recreation Area (Surry, NH). It’s hosted by New Hampshire State Rep. Randy Tefft and his wife Natalie (rt@ne.rr.com or (603) 355-9373).
Look forward to seeing you there. Because our New England Moto Guzzi Spring has sprung. Enjoy
