Guys what am I to do concerning my $ Ram mount? Has anyone else had this issue with the Guzzi lateral twin?

Time to move up to Quad Lock if you are mounting a phone.

I haven't had too much trouble with mine other than one of the rubber clamp bits went missing. I replaced it with a bit of fuel line. Probably why my phone flew off going into a strong headwind. The rubber safety thingy they supply is a real pain to install. Now I use a rubber band I cut out of a bicycle tube to secure the phone better. I would like to try a different mount but mounting places on my V100 are somewhat limited to not block the view of the dash with a tank bag thrown into the mix. Ordinarily I wouldn't really care much about having a phone on the bike but I use a speedometer app because the bike's speedo is so optimistic.

I've read that Apple, at least, won't warrant the damage caused by mounting a phone on a motorcycle handlebar (and that they think they can tell what happened). I used another approach for my Griso. I made a label showing the mile per hour correction at a series of indicated mile per hour readings. Something like this, though I don't remember the numbers:
55-3 60-4 65-5
More entries than that, of course. I printed it out with a Dymo label maker and put it on the face of the dash. It would also work on the handlebar. It faded after a few years, so maybe I should have used the old plastic-embossing-style label maker.

What Ram mount vibrated into smitherenes?
I like the versatility of RAM mounts the RAM rubber coated ball ends are junk IMO. They compress and lose grip. I actually the chinease knockoff that are just hard plastic ball ends that you can really bind down on with arm so it holds tighter for longer.
Quad Lock is another product I do not care for. Whiel they do work well they are expensive and it takes two hands to ooperate and you have to put adapters on things like phones making them thicker.
WHat I have found for phone cradles is a Brovocan off Amazon. It has wireless charging, vibration dampening (phones camers are protected even after the Buell and single cylinder DS bikes), adjustable for a myrad of different phones, aluminium construction, comes with mutiple mounting options, one handed in/out operation, no adapters, currently $99 on Amazon with next day delivery. I like them so much I've bought three of them to put on all my bikes. 1000's of miles in all weather condition and works flawlessly.

Somehow, I'm able to subtract 5 from my V85 speedo and always be close enough.

My solution to mounting the phone securely on my T3 was Ace Hardware velcro tape on the tank and on the back of my phone case! Phone has yet to blow off.

This $15.99 Joyroom Motorcycle Phone Mount is functionally similar to P's $99 item, but in rugged plastic. It has a central button that makes the jaws close around your phone for one-handed mounting. No wireless charging, though. I've used mine for a long time and recommended it.
I see they have added a variant with more padding for an additional five dollars.

Wireless charging is one of those things you don't realize how great it is until you use it. No chainrg cords to deal with that are moiture sensative or wiggle lose. Just ride all day and when you undock the phone is fully charged. Love's me some wireless charging. FWIW mine also charges through an Otter box phone skin.

I use RAM mounts on my dirt bikes. They vibrate a lot. I had to put friction tape on the ball as it kept moving no matter how much I cranked it down. Still working great and not moving as much. :bike-037:

Tension is limited by the number of threads available on the tension bolt. Remove and put a washer or two under the head of the bolt. All the crank tension you'd ever want.

I ordered a Joyroom, not much to lose if I don't like it.

That's what I've done on bikes with analog kilometer gauges to have mile references.

For a phone mount the best I've tried has been Quad Lock with vibration damper so it doesn't destroy the hardware image stabilization.

Same here if I've left the zumo 396 on another bike when I depart home. The aftermarket came up with gps speedos so, I kinda wonder why the vehicle manufacturers don't go to something more accurate. On my '08 Wing, 70mph indicated was really 63, the Healtech - Speedo Healer resolved the issue for the most part. I calibrated it to indicate 70mph at 70mph. IIRC, now at 50mph indicated, I'm really doing 48mph. And, have since added a gps to the bike because Honda no longer supports the factory installed gps.
Getting back to Ram mounts.... I put a 12 year old ram mount on my v85 (it came off my 2012 wee Strom). It is the double socket thing with one end secured to a U-bolt clamp base at the hbar and the other end of the socket connected to a round plate with ball, the plate has an inexpensive spring loaded X-type securement with 5v charging provision. It works good, no issues yet....hope I didn't just put the maloik on it!

What RAM mount? There are a dozen.
I am using a Quick Grip right now. If you have a X grip just throw it away IMHO.
On the Quick Grip, I put a few fat rubber o-rings between the mount and the plate. I also put some neoprene in the plate itself (behind the phone). No issues with vibration and those two items reduced what I had.

I mounted a quad lock with vibration dampening on my V85. It was mounted on the bars out by the mirror mount. Soon after my camera in my phone went all shaky. Had it fixed. Next the entire phone started to fail. Got green lines on it. It was an older iPhone but I do blame the mount. Probably put more blame on having it out on the bars. I cant afford to replace phones. Terrified to try another spot but I would suggest not the bars…

Lamicall has a decent phone mount on Amazon with what seems like good vibration dampening (no problems with 2 iPhones). Under $30
Personally, after using the phone mount for a while, I got a $50 Carplay display off of AliExpress. Now my phone is in my pocket in case I'm ever accidently separated from my bike and navigation and music are much easier to manipulate on the bike

Between bicycle speed O and GPS I have pretty much solved the defective Moto guzzi speedo issue, at least for monitoring speed, I no longer have any accurate odometer readings for the 03 EV or the 04 Stone, the baby Breva and Norge speedo seem to be holding up. But I keep my phone in a coat pocket, on me, thinking if I was thrown off the bike and laying any distance from the bike at least I might have a chance to call for help, wouldn’t do me much good laying busted up 10 ft from my bike and phone.

I bought one of the $30 carply thingies and the fundamental problem is the iphone is still running apps and consuming power while safely tucked away in your pocket. That is why I prefer wireless charging at the end of the day I pull the phone from the cradle and it at 100% charge.
