Hello guys,
Looking for a little help as the nearest dealer did not.
A customer of mine has a 2013 V7 Classic. The bike will start and run for a few minutes, then bog down and misfire. After the misfire for a few seconds, it will stall out. The left cylinder has raw gas pouring out of the exhaust after this running condition. I have pulled the injectors, cleaned them, and tested them; both seem to be the same spray and pressure. I have checked the ECU info. It seems to be the last update, and no issues or errors. Here is the ECU info:
CM228301
38M363HW304
352BV738
E14
130650144
June 10th 2015
The dealer told the customer that he needed a new ECU, but at this time, they could not get one. So I am here looking for better answers and a direction to move in to help this guy out. A new ECU, seems like a cop out answer to a tech not wanting to there job.
Thanks for the help

Hard to say...
lots of speculation...
what and why was the ECU updated, and did the bike run correctly after the update.
Assuming you have confirmed:
- cylinder pressures are ok and within 10% of each other.
- moved injectors to other cylinders to verify that its not the injector but the signal to the injector.
- replaced plugs with a couple of new ones to confirm the plug isn't faulty.
- pulled the mufflers, ran the engine to verify you don't have a plugged cat (if cat equipped).
these are just a few things that come to mind...
hope the best on you tech journey...

Alfetta,
Thanks for the reply,
To answer you.
- The ECU was updated the last time it went to the dealer in 2016 per the bulletin - this is a new issue, and the new dealer has no direction at this time. The bike was running fine from 2016 till winter of 2024. This started this winter/spring.
- Cylinder compression is 150psi on both
- I moved the two injectors over to each cylinder, and only the left cylinder is flooding out. The injectors, when pulled, were cleaned but not labeled, so I do not know which one was the original one now.
- New plugs, checked caps, and wires all good
- No cats.

That is timeframe that they went to single TB w/V7II. Single or dual TB's? I have changed 5 or 6 ECU's from 1st series 15RC. Don't rule out bad ECU

This has a single TB
-
Early single TB's had 3 updated maps. They used to have to sit & idle exactly 2min until you could give it throttle. This must be the one owner had corrected. I think maybe map got corrupted at some time at maybe battery change or from dead battery.
You may want to look in the airbox for obstruction. The temp & other sensors would effect both cylinders. Not just 1. That's why I think it's the map getting corrupt. It would have to send constant signals to be that rich. But on 1 side only. If both sides it could be plugged aircleaner or airbox
The ECU is part of the TB and usually not replaced on it's own but as a unit.
I would try download a map and reset everything. Beetle over on the Griso Ghetto has stock and his own maps He may know what 352BV738 map is.
That was the time I was quitting the dealerships here to retirement. That's why I don't have the single TB map numbers.

I used a Beetle map on my 2012, with very good results. http://www.griso.org/
