Saw this online a few minutes ago.  Didn’t read the article because I don’t care about the topic. I just like this picture.

I did not know Catalina Island ever had racing on it. The races were a bit before my time, but I would think I would have heard of it before now. I do know the fishing is usually good there  :food:

In the late 50’s-early 60’s BSA produced a Gold Star Catalina Scrambler in honor of Chuck Minert’s 1956 win at Catalina on his 56 Gold Star.  There was a Gold Star Catalina at a local show a few years ago.  Very nice looking bike-

I always liked these classics with Ann Margret on a Norton, a Triumph, and a Guzzi! :thumb:   :boozing:

Which picture?

In my first post, I posted a picture of a woman holding a Catalina race poster while sitting on a Moto Guzzi single, circa 1956-1957.  Not sure what model Guzzi it is.

Thanks Cliffrod and AJ, great info. Passed it along to a buddy of mine that lived on Catalina and he and his brother raced in the sidehack division there and all over the west coast. Sent me back an e- mail that he just bought the  winning NSU 125 that Dave Ekins rode in 53 and 54. Neat stuff!

That’s very cool!  Love hearing stories like that.  Not sure about Bud Ekins / Dave Ekins connection, but check out this video of the 1955 Catalina Gran Prix with Bud Ekins-

Dave is Bud's younger brother. Both in the AMA hall of fame.  Great Video!

Sophia Loren.
That's a poor Photoshop of a vinyl cover.

At that time period only the Falcone 500 or Airone 250 would be available.  Both would have the upside-down forks as shown.  Very subtle but the Falcone flywheel would be larger OD than the Airone version.  IMHO that is a Falcone flywheel.
