Title: Norge airbox mystery foam

My '07 Norge has this foam in the airbox that does absolutely nothing as far as I can tell, except maybe dampen some resonance or otherwise provide some sound deadening. It disintegrates into dust if you look at it wrong, and I'd like to just remove it:

Can anyone confirm it's function? Am I OK to remove it?

I ditched that foam years ago.

I'd second tossing it out. let us know if it makes a difference to the intake sound.

Sound deadening. Age makes it crumble. Intake roar is as loud as the exhaust, if you can hear it.
