I rode a 72 Eldorado back in the 80's from Texas to all over the western USA. Stopped riding to pay for college. In 2006, I bought a California than traded it in for a Breva 1100 at MPH and later added a red Griso. Sold those in 2012 when the economy tanked and I was unemployed for a year. Getting the itch to start riding again. Really glad to see WildGuzzi is still here!
A V7-850 looks very appealing to me as a returning rider. As you all know, it has great looks. It's simple to work on and has oodles of character.
I notice a lot of V7-850 owners replace the factory mufflers with aftermarket pipes. Is it 100% necessary to reflash the ECU with a new fuel map after doing that? Seems like the devices for that all cost $500 or is there another way of doing that? Can I connect a laptop to it?

No problemo!! Just say "MOE" and break out the BIG CHECKBOOK!!

A re-flash is not necessary. My V7-850 fuels perfectly with my Mistrals. I do leave the db killers in because I only wanted a bit extra rumble. With db killers in the stock fuel mapping works fine.

The older generation V7III and prior can be hooked up to a computer via the GuzziDiag program. There are Beetle maps available for the older gen V7s which are great. I installed one on my 2015 V7.

I will admit the Mistrals and others are a lot of money for the bit extra aural enjoyment. The stock mufflers were just fine.

$500 for a re-flash? Sounds like you’re checking out California prices from a Guzzi expert who tends to quickly ban people from their forum even for respectfully disagreeing with him (those Cali Guzzi guys sure are sensitive).
Anyway, a Beetle map is a fraction of the cost! Just buy the cables, download the software, and shoot him an email.

Beetle maps aren't compatible with the E5 V7-850s, only UpMap.
I rode for a while with stock tune and Agostini shorties. It ran fine. With the DB killers out it did not.
Bought the UpMap. The change in how it runs with db killers in is noticable. I'm glad I spent the money

I’m also thinking of downsizing to a V7 sport, my Harley is getting too heavy for me at 70 and I have leg issues. My concern is: is the engine strong enough for long distance rides without worrying about overheating, my EV1100 now retired used to throw a lot of heat at my ankles and legs but never left me stranded. I’ll love all the new features and weight, I’m over 200lbs and I would hate to burn out the engine. I’m also thinking about the V100 S, but I would have to lower it a bit as I can’t do the tip toe thing anymore, not sure if it could lowered other than a stock seat. Thank!

Couple of thoughts:
* I never had the slightest heat issue with my Cali Jackal so your mention of the EV heat puzzles me.
* I DID have heat issues with my Breva 1100, and that is part of what got me to try the V7 smallblock.
* I've toured on my 2013 V7 Stone, if that motor is "strong enough for long distance" I can't imagine the new V7 850 would be any less so.
* I'm a big guy too.
* My V7III seems just as stout as my MkI Stone and makes more HP. I'm thinking this new one with the better throttle body, forks, and brakes should be just right.

Compared to a Harley the Guzzi won't make any heat. The 110 was hotter than Hades the V7 will be quite pleasant in comparison. It will haul you just fine.

I have a '23 V7 Stone Special Edition, and had the dealer install Agostini full-length reverse cone mufflers with the dB killers out, open airbox lid kit, and an UPMAP tune (got these parts from AF1 Racing in TX). They did this before I took delivery of the bike. It runs great, so the UPMAP tune was worth it. One thing to note: Agostini is one of the few aftermarket mufflers for this bike that doesn't have cats in them (like the OEM ones). I believe Mistral mufflers have cats in them, so a tune wouldn't be needed.

"... I’ll love all the new features and weight, I’m over 200lbs and I would hate to burn out the engine." ...
My V85TT seems to be able run 75-80 mph on the I'state all day long (I'm 250) with the 3 boxes on it. Sucks down a lot of gas, 30-35 mpg, and has some pick up left for a pass. Do a lot better touring at slower speeds on some back roads. I have done the ton on it so there is that. Easier than my old BMW F-650 GS but not as easy as my 1500 Valkyrie.

There is no way other than no or poor oil that you will hurt a v7, any v7 engine. Heat is a non-issue with them.

Have any 2025 V7 Sport models hit the USA yet?
-
Have owned my v7 850 for the past four years. Initially I had a few issues that were fixed under warranty. Bad ecu mostly. Bike has been solid since then. 25000 miles and honestly just great. I bought Zard exhaust and a map to go with. 40-45 mpg. I keep it pegged between 75-80 mph. Commuted a lot with it. No complaints. Currently the wife has taken it over as it’s very fun to ride.
I’m 230 pounds. No overheating issues. Commuted 120 miles on average. Sometimes two up.
-
Personally, I de-cated my stock exhaust. A bit tricky but less heat by my feet , a slightly better sound & no issues w/map . Also updated suspension to suit me . Now I’m very pleased with the bike . Oh ,radial tires too.

I tour a bit on my V7 850 and haven't had any issues with heat yet, knock on wood. You may notice the warmth on occasion as with many other bikes, but I haven't taken to applying reflective heat tape to the underside of the seat like I've felt the need to do on some Ducatis for summer riding. The steering bearings rusted and notched on my V7 850 early on, Piaggio didn't warranty them as they're a consumable/wear item  Other than that the issues I've come across are the occasional start switch issue (contact cleaner fixes it) and that the replacement Pirelli Sport Demon tires I had installed were awful. The original Dunlop Arrowmax StreetSmarts were okay, and now I've got Michelin Road Classics which seem to be the best of those three. I have full length Agostini exhaust on mine and used UpMap to flash the tune for keeping the db killers in. Can't comment on running them without the tune as I did the tune at the same time as the exhaust. The stock exhaust was fine, the aftermarket is just a fun bit of sporty character to add to the bike.
$839.99 for the Agostini full length slip-ons from AF1 Racing
$471.28 for the UpMap (included a download code for the tune) from guareschimoto.it

Does anyone know when the V7-850's will hit the USA?

We're usually last but the tumultuous economic environment might be making it worse.
I know the year I factory ordered my new 2013 MkI Stone the rest of the world got them in 2012 throughout the year and mine finally showed up in the last week or November or first week of December 2012 as a 13 model year product.

They hit in 2021

He's asking when the NEW ones will arrive...

I live in Houston and a local dealer quoted me $12,000 for a 2024 Corsa. No breakdown on that. I sure hope he quoted me the wrong stock number. Maybe it was a V100?
What would a reasonable out-the-door price be for a 24 Corsa?

See Cadrecycle.com. They have one left $7500 plus 800 freight, you pay sales tax in your state, no bs fees, great guys to work with.

There would be something wrong if a modern 850 wouldn't do the ton.

Getting close to pulling the trigger. Anyone in the USA use an V7-850 for touring?

Not trying to make an unjustified attack…..but whatever you do don’t buy from the dealer in Houston. I can message you more on that if needed. I would service it yourself as much as possible.
I used a v7 750 to travel extensively. I’m sure there’s bikes with more room. But honestly it did great. My v7 850 was even better. Did a 1200 mile round trip with my wife to Florida from Galveston. Did other shorter distance trips as well. 65000 miles between two v7. There is people on here with far more. Had a great time and packed really light. I love my v85 but wouldn’t hesitate to use the v7 850 either. If you can radial tires make a great improvement. Exhaust and a map really wake the bike up.

Thanks for the input. AF1 has plenty of V7 and a really good deal on a V100 which is very tempting, but I am thinking on staying with the V7 since a) I have not been on a bike in 12 years and b) I can work on the V7 if needed. I am considering the other V7 variants too. Nice to have so many choices.

one more question---do I want the factory Guzzi center stand on a V7-850?

I installed the Guzzi center stand and am glad I have it.

There has been at least one 750cc V7 that has done over 100,000 miles on this forum.

I rode my ‘14 V7 Special from NJ to Barber’s in Birmingham and back. All back roads, that’s where they shine. You’ll be fine unless your idea of “touring” is high speed on the slab. IMO, my current V85 is a better “do everything” bike, but is taller and heavier.

I had AF1 put the OEM center stand on mine when they bought it. They tossed in the labor for free and I think gave me 10% off the center stand price

Getting my new V7 Tuesday from AF1. :bike-037: Now need to get the accessories...

Bet you love it. I'm over the other side of the pond and have had my V7 850 Sport for a week and a day and love it. Compared to the Breva 750 its been "more of everything", yes including weight....but more power, torque, sophistication, better brakes and better (to me anyway after 21 years on a B750) suspension and handling.
