Title: Norge Kick stand BOLT!
Post by: SemperVee on July 11, 2025, 10:56:24 AM
Really getting tired of keeping hex head driver in tankbag to tighten kickstand bolt ever few times I ride. I know this is not a "new" problem. Seeing that I must remove  LH exhaust to move out of the way to access bolt and replace with something with a head and easier to tighten I am  rethinking do this as the header bolts might have never been removed and are RUSTED.   After I spend time with penetrating oil and get the pipe moved or off, *Need i have to replace the gasket I am thinking is underneath?  Is the gasket metal?   search has not shown any real fix discoved - I plan on adding bolt head replacement.   loosening and adding medium strength thread locker has not worked in the least thus far. perhaps Red?.   Thanks....

Definitely replace the exhaust gaskets, try not to force the bolts or they'll spin out, but they are also easily replaceable as long as you don't break them!

You may not even see a gasket when you take off the header as it's been crushed over time, but it's there, you may have to peel it out with a sharp pointy device to ensure you don't have 2 gaskets.

My kickstand has never loosened, I wonder if you have the original nut in there.  Possibly a nylon nut with locking washer?  Will take a look when I get home later today.

What a PITA trying to get in there to slather with some penetrating oil operating from the ground.  Hoping to buy a used air hydraulic table soon!!   ** Cutting the lowers off permanently up to the blinker assembly to see the engine and ability to reach stuff is mighty tempting in days like this!!
