Title: Piaggio Suprises its Moto Guzzi Dealers...Again!
Post by: SLDMRossi on July 22, 2025, 01:40:06 PM
Back in April, Moto Guzzi dealers were surprised when a batch of V7 850 "Shines" appeared with full Chrome tanks, like the previous V7 Carbon Shine. It proved to be quite a looker, and the few that made it here sold fast. Obviously, with minimal promotion...because no one knew they were here.

Well, Piaggio's done it again. This time, it's a V7 850 Special "Nero Smeraldo." Which is a 2025 V7 Special in luscious Emerald Green." Described as "a beauty!", one just landed at Hamlin Cycles in Bethel, CT.

Better hurry...

The tank merging into the side panel. The 80s are indeed back!

That IS a looker!

And "Black Emerald" (or "Emerald Black"?) is a very cool color name, despite the fact that "Nero Smeraldo" sounds like he could be a Bond villain.

Very pretty.  I am waiting for the Sport however, but if this one had cruise control, I'd be in.

I'm confused! The pic looks black to me. Is there a green also?

From Mototechniks.com:

For 2025, the entire V7 line gets ride-by-wire throttles making way for two ride modes, standard cruise control, traction control, and Euro 5+ compliance. In addition, the full range receives LED lighting, a new LCD dash in place of the analog clocks, new switchgears, and, most importantly, a new ergonomically shaped ignition key.

While the transverse V-Twin keeps the same 853 cc displacement, Moto Guzzi tells us its gained 2.3 hp 100 rpm further into the rev-range at 6,900 rpm while also boosting torque by 4.4 lb-ft lower in the revs at 4,400 rpm. Guzzi also claims 95% of the V7’s torque is available at 3,500 rpm. A 52 mm throttle body breathes through a 27% larger airbox while roller tappets, pushrods, and rocker arms move two valves per cylinder.

Road and Rain ride modes dial in throttle response and traction control settings and while TC can be disabled, ABS cannot.

It's green.  Probably green over a black base, so it's very dark.  I had to search around for other pictures to see it.

Nero smeraldo is emerald black.  Very nice color.

You guys have got to quit this. I promised myself after the Navale no more new bikes. Damn that green is gorgeous. No one does green better than MG.  :thumb:

It would be nice if somebody would get a good pic. Especially one outside.

The best I could find today was a factory photo

I like it,  reminds me of the Yamaha 650’s and Triumph’s of the mid to late 70’s. But the seat looks like it might be hard for high mileage days. More evidence the days of the big cruiser’s is pretty much over.

Yup no doubt it’s a looker . But please loose the spoke wheels that require inner tubes & fit radial tires ,

The Special has always had spokes.  If you want cast - the Stone or Sport will get that done.

The other pic on the US site shows the green a bit better. The white looks pretty good too. Price reflects tariffs or too much greed though.

Price doesn't reflect tariffs, not yet anyway.  $10,000 doesn't seem out of line for a real Italian made motorcycle in 2025.  Your v85 had to be at least a couple thousand more, right?

Although you can pick up brand new 24 Specials for $7500, and if your willing to go with mag wheels, 24 Stones can be found for $6500.

Yeah, the $10,000 ballpark compares directly to the Triumph Speed Twin 900 and Bonneville T100.

The updated 2025 Speed Twin 900 also received inverted forks and other updates, very similar to the V7 Sport.

And of course, the V7 Special compares well against the Bonneville T100.
