I am now the proud owner of a low-mileage, fully recall-compliant Hydro 03 EV, purchased from its original owner in Seattle.
The paint and chrome are in excellent condition, but I look forward to addressing the long delayed maintenance. So far, the only physical issue is the high position of the rear brake, which requires me to rest my heel on a nub to modulate it.
Being a hands-on person, I plan to change the oils, inspect the brakes, and replace the tires and battery while reacquainting myself with the older electrical and fuel injection systems. I’m also looking for a locking set of saddle bags to compliment her livery. Any info on oils and tires etc or maintenance tips will be appreciated.
Thanks to those who helped me confirm the valve recall; I now have the necessary paperwork for both that and the clutch, with no triple tree attention required. Let the games begin!
This Hydro 03 perfectly complements VroomHilda, my 2007 Norge. I sit in the Norge and feels like on top of the Cali so might me looking to change to another seat in the future. They are only 4 years apart the Norge and the Cali but worlds apart in totality.

That of course will happen! And thanks Steve for your help.

The foot controls take some getting used to. Not sure I ever did. No more snick, snick, snick. More like shift, clunk……….shift,clunk………….shift,clunk. I rarely use foot brake so that was less of a problem except at track days!!!

From a V85 to a V100 and now an EV.
All worth machines. The EV can do most anything a new bike can do at a tiny fraction of the cost. Congratulations.

For the foot brake. You might just get used to having the nub and resting your heel on it. I did and I like it.
You might give Moto Guzzi Classics in Signal Hill a call. He has some Hepco Becker bags and I think mounts that will work. But..Shipping is not cheap for bags due to size.
Congrats!

Verry nice!!
I actually got used to the rear brake pedal and nub. My knee hit with the aftermarket pedal that was on it. mweather has it now.
Since you don't have the HB mounts, I'd get a nice set of water proof throw overs or nice leather if thats your choice

The fellow that I bought my EVT from fabricated this pedal. The nicest EV pedal I have ever used.

That is very nice... I love having floorboards as I had many HD dressers but I am going to address trying to lower the brake pad step to facilitate easier usage.
This is all your fault Dave; this sudden wave of EV Cali buying buy I am guessing you, and 3 others of us got the fever.

For the height of the pad, do you want your foot straight on the board or like me I'm at a bit of an angle but still a bit under the pad.
If you prefer more straight, then you need clearance for you boot under the pad, hence using the nub to rest on. If you prefer the angle, then as low as you can and just heel the board.

I removed the nub to make it easier to move my foot to the side but later realized it was much easier to modulate with your heel on the nub. A longer pedal overhanging the front of the floorboard would be the best solution. The one Dave posted is impressive.

Brake arm under the floorboard...That is slick!
Very nice EV! Congrats!

Yes, the position was awkward for me so I put the stock one back on, and found it worked better for me. inditx was looking for an aftermarket pedal so I sent to him, as I'd managed to acquire a set of V7III HB hard cases and cbow racks for a song courtesy of the guzzi community, so I PIF. I don't know who made it, the PO of my EV didn't specify.

I was going to give a pic of my CalVin with the same brake, you beat me to it. This is a stock Guzzi part.

Top Loaders are the way to go - what are they and what type of mounts Please. Very nicely setup and color Stone BTW.

I was told they were an OEM option made by national Cycle.
There is a minimal rack that they attach to with two hooks on the bottom and two "D" fasteners midway up.
I got nice drop in zip bags from national Cycle that fit perfect.

To my knowledge, those rear brake pedals that run under the floor board were not Guzzi OEM. Someone was fabricating them aftermarket, then stopped for liability reasons. They were all over ebay years ago. On the Cali’s I’ve owned (‘03 Stone and ‘09 Calvin), I was comfortable keeping my heel on the floor board and actuating the pedal. I couldn’t get used to the nub.

Your bags are available for short money right on the Swap Meet.

I was told the latter, that someone was making them, but I don't know the truth.

It’s the latter. I forget what they called it. “Advanced Brake Pedal”?

I've always like the nub. Gives good leverage like having a peg. Keeps feet level if you're shifting too.
Before I purchased my Cali. I thought I'd get rid of the boards, linked brakes and all the cruiser stuff. But when I rode it, worked well together. Part of the "feel" of riding a Guzzi. Just like the engine torquing the bike to the right.
I've got 90k Guzzi miles over the last dozen+ years which puts me in the beginner class. :bike-037:

Yes, thanks. Sent a message and no word back yet few days ago.
