I went on a 300 mile ride the other day. My rear end “sit bones” been killing me since. None of my past Guzzi’s, Hondas, Kawasaki’s, whatever were this bad!!! Geeezzzz
-
Mine wasn't that bad!! I was able to buy an extra seat and send it off to Russell for a seat build. I've had 4 other ones and was very happy with them.
I left the dealership for a 500+ mile ride home. Wish I had thought to remove the bumper at the dealership.
I removed the butt bumper which help somewhat.
Try a sheepskin lay on cover or maybe a air cushion Air Hawk.
-
Part of having a comfortable seat is getting your ass toughened up by putting some miles on the bike and your ass.Try a bead seat.
-
And yet I’ve also read reviews that it’s quite a comfy saddle.
-
Well I rode other bikes much further without butt pain so I don’t think it’s my butt that is the problem!
Il try an Airhawk.
-
"SEAT SUCKS! "
Is that not a pleasurable experience? People would pay good money for that!
These days, I'm lucky to get 60 miles without getting a sore butt. Back when I used to ride daily, just over 150 miles was the limit before stopping, which then got increasingly less as the miles racked up.

Remove the butt stop. Us a Sit and fly from eBay. If that doesn’t work then you need to get something else. 9 of 10 are happy with

Mine’s fine. I use a sheep skin for long trips.

Ask the seller. I found him very responsive.
-
Measure it front to back, width and depth, and put the measurements in the "ask seller". He will get the right one. I suspect large. I have 2 XL and @ xxl on my bikes because they came off past bikes. Most about 10 years old and in great shape yet.
-
He shows a V85 cover. May not fit all years though.

Thanks all! I'll reach out to seller. I don't find the seat too objectionable but for the price of the s 'n f seat cover I'm willing to give it a try. I've got a sheep skin I use on the Wing but haven't tried that with the v85 yet.
-
Anybody try the factory comfort seat? Any improvement?
-
I found a 3D mesh style seat cover (like the sit n fly) for an incredibly cheap price on AliExpress. Worked great until a truck took out that bike
-
I know a V7 is not a V85TT, nor is my butt yours, but I was always uncomfortable on my V7 saddles as stock. Adding the mesh cover AND/OR the beaded seat cover made my recent trip from Maine to Ohio (400+ miles each day) much better for my derrière.
-
I find the V85 to be one of the best seats I have had but I do run a sheepskin with it

Same here, flat not crowned and sloped down to the tank like most stock seats anymore. I removed the bumper which lets me shift back another inch on the wide part. It's the only motorcycle I have that I left the stock seat on.
-
Hard disagree, IMHO. I rode across the US of A on my 2023 V85 this summer. 4,300 miles in 16 days. Much of it in 90 degree heat. And I found that the seat was all-day comfortable…no asterisk, no issues, no “wishes,” nothing. To be fair I was also riding on an Alaskan Sheepskin, but I’ve used one on all my bikes and none of them was (or is) as comfortable as the V85’s seat. Width, angle, padding, the “bump”… put me in the superfan category. I think it’s the best seat I’ve ridden on to date.
-
You're the lucky one! My 500+ mile ride home wasn't too bad. I tried a few things to make it better but in the end I had Russell rebuild it for me.
Now I can ride all Day Long and still feel good when I park it for the day!

You can cut that looooong link off at the question mark (in the first line) and it will work.

Update..
I contacted the vendor and bought one of these seat covers. I installed it, put a quick 300 miles on yesterday and thought it was a huge improvement. I would definitely suggest trying one before spending a small fortune for an aftermarket seat or altering the stock saddle.

Glad you like it Bob.
NM, looks just like the Sit & fly only 5 times as much money!
