on the norge GD works like clockwork.. Down loaded the reader and writer for 15 RC ECUand correct 15 read qnd write files to upload so I can begin but I am going in circles. Files on desktop, connects fine, key on and wait and 12 seconds count down it says key off.. No Save? I get this weird msg key off and if you hear the fuel pump,. close the program and try again? where the fuel pump is on or off, when I key on makes no difference? Stuck now for ideas. It is like it is not finding the file when it is working on my desktop... I have to load the map fopr GD to check the throttle and Trim I understood no go without uploading bin file to ECU?

Unless someone changed the ECU, it's a 15"M" not "RC". RC was Calvin and some others IIRR. My '04 is 15M.
EDIT: Also when your using the up/down load programs, the fuel pump should NOT be heard when you start the process. If it does come on, you likely have the wrong "port" selected in the up/down program or the wrong up/down program for your ECU.
If you going to up a new map, I would suggest as the folks at GD do, download and save the original before you up in case you need to go back. It's also a good idea to have the bike on a charger and make sure you laptop or whatever is fully charged.

But on the Norge the ECU is a IAW 5AM ! not 15M You have to use IAW5xReader_V0.28.e xe and IAW5xWriter_V0.24.e xe to read/write the ECU.

Yes I agree and I am trying to use the reader program to allow the ecu to see the original map. For some reason it is not seeing it?
I have selected >2000 ECU (15 M) for the 03 Cali EV and downloaded the correct reader and writer software (IAW 15Xwriter_VO26 and IAW15_VO67 Reader)
There is only one "port" on the mac an that is the thumb drive selected and the files are on the desktop. Either I am doing something wrong or in the wrong order? I have an aux battery powering up the hardware connection and the EV on charger. Selecting key on the bike automatically power up the FI pump unless the reader should be dismantling that? That is what I am reading you are saying? Thanks.

Another post you said 15RC and another you said you had an O2 sensor on it. Did someone modify your bike?

Hi Steve, No I just got it about a week ago. I was referencing the brochure that said it had a sensor in the cross over. and I can see it.

Yes, you are correct. I only referenced the Norge as I had no problems with GD seeing and working for it. I did change the ECU selected and have the correct read and write files.

The Reader and Writer disable the fuel pump.
When I wrote the wrong port, GD and the read/write programs have a option of what Com port to connect to. If the cable is connected to the computer on com1 and the software is looking at com2, they can't talk. You need to tell the software com1.

Thanks Tom, If this morning the MAC does not comprehend "USB" port as it does on the Norge - I am moving to Windoze machine. What settings are available to use on GD for the EV? CO Trim? Throttle? It is now as I rec'd it running so good that I think it is a bit rich as I need no help with enrichener on handlebar to start and idle perfectly from go.

CO trim, yes. Throttle self learning, no.
"Choke" lever on the handlebar is nothing more than a lever to hold the throttle open a bit while it warms up. You could do the same by turning the throttle grip with your hand.
This bikes fueling system and ignition is way different than the Norge.
To adjust the fuel trim you use GD, not the reader/writer. I would use GD to see what the fuel trim number is. You want about "0", maybe +10 to +20. It might even like a -10?

I have learned that I cannot do anything without GD first reading the map..
