Title: T3 Big Block Casting mount?
Post by: wirespokes on August 22, 2025, 08:09:12 AM
I don't know what to call it, but on the big blocks near the distributor, there's what looks like a place to mount something. Maybe a carry-over from the Loops? Would any of you know what it's for?

Below the distributor, aft of the right cylinder? It looks to me like Guzzi was thinking about a different location for the crankcase breather pipe - it's the same basic shape as the one inside the bellhousing.

Or on top of the 'case - ribbing with bolt holes? That would be where the generator bracket mounted on the "Loopframe" Guzzis.

My motors out at the moment and I was thinking another breather location as well.

Yeah - the one just aft of the right cylinder. Funny that they left it in the casting if it wasn't going to be used.

It's funny. They did the same thing with ventilating duct work cast into the Griso dashboard housing; abandoned but still there. Making their designs up on the fly, but not throwing good money after bad.

Guzzi reused the mold for the Convert timing cover, revising it with upper engine mounts, for the Spine-frames. Didn't bother to remove the areas for the pump or fittings. As my mom often says "waste not, want not".
