Title: Fixed Side stand and Norge lost her skirts
Post by: SemperVee on September 24, 2025, 09:23:43 AM
Tired of frequently having to tighten the kickstand bolt, I decided to replace it. To do this, I had to remove the left-hand exhaust to make enough space to take out the Allen bolt and replace it with a hex head. It was also the perfect opportunity to remove VroomHilda's skirts, which I had been wanting to do for a while. Not only does this allow me to showcase the engine, but it also gives me easier access to the oil dipstick and several other components, all while streamlining her appearance. I love the new look and have been building up the courage to make this change for years. Remember: measure fifty-seven times and cut once!

Hey Mike,

If you are 100% certain you won't need it ever again in the future, I'd like to buy 1 of the left hand upper side panels from you as one of the tabs on mine has broken (the one with 3 mounting points and despite multiple fixes with super glue, it keeps breaking, assuming that yours are all intact.

Let me know!

Thanks
Paul

Paul, I'm just waiting on gaskets to reattach the pipes. Then take it for a spin and see how she looks on the road to make a decision. In the meantime, I'll snap some pictures of the parts for you. I think the parts are in pretty good shape as I've had them off for years, including the nose cone. You're welcome to what you need -  just cover the shipping cost.

Thanks Mike!

The top two pieces here in the picture are what I am looking for, I only need the left side, but might as well get the pair if you're OK with letting them go.

Paul,
I want you to know that I’m already planning to send the matched set your way. I understand how expensive and very hard to find these OEM parts can be, and I truly appreciate all the kindness you’ve shown me in the Guzzi community. This is just a way for me to give back and share a bit of Guzzisti karma with you.
Hoping to actually meet someday.

Aha, it's a Norge! Looks good.
I can't make up my mind, but I'm too chicken to cut anything.
Maybe remove the lower sections.
Thanks for the pictures.

This is exactly what I've been meaning to do as well. Seeing the end result is perfect. This is how the factory should have built them.

Hmmmmm.    I love the look of the engine, and have been sorry that the Norges cover most of it up.   I might try that on the red one.

Try it you'll like it!! No regrets here.  Been wanting to do this since I got it!!   Love the look of the big Guzzi motor.

So all that fairing has nothing to do with properly directing cooling air over the cylinders and block?

Picture of a picture, hard to remove glare. I have always loved the looks of this modified Norge, it belonged to a forum member( sorry don’t recall name) he posted this around 2009. I believe he found and used crash bars from a Breva with little to no modification. And additionally he was able to mount small fog lights on the crash bars. I’ve posted the pic a few times over the years hoping to find out who the original owner was but he’s disappeared. The original Tupperware lowers won’t provide much engine protection anyway.

Keep us prudish Norge owners with skirts still on posted on changes in sidewind handling, and heat, my lowers have been off for years , 80-90 degree 200-300 mile days get uncomfortable with them on. Your solution certainly ends  stupid plastic tab repair.

I took mine off 5 minutes after I bought it. I gave them to JD Gretz.

On the NorgeGT there is even more coverage aiming to take heat away from the rider

*AND it made accessing the oil dip stick  easy and visible as I had no "factory hole" to access it  and access to the exhaust nuts holding pipes to head.  Its a beautiful motor.  The skirts did nothing but heat up my legs.

Don't remember his name but there was a guy at the GRiT rally with a Norge with the skirt removed and I asked him about the heat, since I noticed as soon as I got my new one back down to Texas it got a bit warm on the legs. He said not much difference, if anything warmer lol
