Title: Fuel tank restriction
Post by: BMCMOTO on October 18, 2025, 04:03:23 PM
I have had trouble seeing into the fuel tank on my Brevas because of the restricted opening made to accommodate only unleaded fuel pump nozzles.  Does anybody have experience modifing this piece. Good, bad or indifferent

I'm thinking of cutting the bottom of this off below the latching notch at the front. The other day, I splashed fuel all over myself and the bike as I lifted the nozzle slightly to look into the tank as I filled it. I know about the connections to the breathing, charcoal system, etc. and will not be disturbing those connections.

I have done this on my V85, much nicer filling when you can see what you are doing and yes it won't splash back in your face like before.
I cut a slot up the side of the filler that was left as well just to make it easier to fill the tank to the top.

Neither of my 07 Norge models have that protrusion in the gas tank fill opening.

I opened it up on my V85TT after I got tired of getting gas on splashed my face. I stilled haven"t managed to get a full tank according to the gauge.
