Title: 2004 V11 Sport charging voltage
Post by: oranges3 on October 25, 2025, 05:34:08 AM
hey guys...
simple question:

my 2004 V11 Cafe Sport is reading 13.1-13.3 volts at idle (idle at 1100 per tach) and 13.7 volts at 2000 and above at the battery.

do i have a charging issue?

Main ground cleaned and tight, relays: Picker 30A, regulator has additional case ground to frame and wires to stator are clean with no evidence of excessive heat... same with the 30A fuse.

When i get back from a ride and hook up my Batterytender  harness, the green light is blinking usually before i can get my jacket off showing the battery is at 90% or better.

Am i chasing someting that does not need to be caught?

13.7 is normal charging. maybe battery is starting to get weak. Leave it off tender & see what happens w/it is what I would do.

Hey Steve!! Thank you sir...
Thats what i thought... so no more chasing ghosts...

What about the voltage at idle?

What should the idle be per factory spec and should I read it via guzzidiag or is the tach close enough?

thank you for the quick reponse.

You are fine. I am surprised that you get THAT much charge at idle. Those alternators don't have much output below 2000.
