Title: Non GC, new bike!
Post by: inditx on December 06, 2025, 02:21:53 PM
Well, new to me anyway!
A 2019 Versys 1000  :bike-037:
I am smitten and should be since I rode her home at 38 degrees F
But I enjoyed every minute
It really is a fine riding machine  :thumb:
Hopefully I’ll keep her and she’ll give me plenty of carefree "smiles to the miles"
RideOn!

I have no need or interest in having a bike that size at this stage in my life.  However, if I did that bike would be on the short list.  Every time I
sit on one of those it just feels right, just fits me ergonomically spot on.  Enjoy your mile muncher, it should bring you many "many miles into memories."

I test rode one on a dealer demo day. The test bike had color-matched hard luggage, trunk and bags. The bike was crazy tall for my 32" inseam, and it was really difficult to climb on and off. At a standstill, I was tip-toeing. But the bike was very fast, with power coming in from just above idle. The engine also vibrated.

It does have the 1” lowering links which are nice
Have not noticed vibrations, in fact it feels smoother than my FJR
YMMV

Owned the Versys 650 back when ('08); was a bit tall but put 20 K ON IT. Liked it a lot except for the "tip-toe" part! The motor was FANTASTIC!!!!!

Back in 04 I struggled with choosing a Quota or a Tiger. I eventually chose the Tiger and no regrets. Put over 100K miles on it. But if that Yamaha was available back then it would have been my first choice.
