I just ordered one of these. I have no idea if and when it will show up but with the xmas25 coupon the total is $110.
I've been thinking about one for a while so I gambled.

I bought one from AlieExpress for the V7. I like it but that first one liked to lock up or go blank on rides so I just bought myself a Podofo 5" for the V7 and a 6.5 with cameras for the Norge. The smaller one is working great, haven't installed the one on the Norge yet. I enjoy them for navigation and making it easier to do music

I put an Android Auto unit in my old car. It actually works very well. But it only works with a few GPS apps, like Google maps and Waze. Great for the car. But I have other apps that I use on the bike, like Kurviger and OSMand. So that wouldn't work. Let me know how that one works.

Haven't heard of either of those but I do know Rever, Detecht and I'm pretty sure Calimoto all work

Saw this re Kurviger. Have to check that 1 out, still searching for the "perfect" nav app for the bike

I've been very happy with a quiklock mount/my iPhone and have mounts on all my bikes. Since I always have the phone, it's a seamless transition from one bike to another. But I'm always interested in a better way to do something!!! :) What does a unit like that provide that a smartphone doesn't? Is it just that it's larger?
-
Old eyes appreciate 7" screens.
I have 0 use for a phone when ridding.
I really bought it for my 2017 Tundra but might use it on the bike too.
I have little experience with the Waze etc because I'm stuck in the Garmin GPS dark ages. Can you save and find motels and restaurants with them?

So I like 2 things on the bike, navigation and music (I know people will have thoughts on music, that's fine). While both can be handled with a phone it involves multiple screens that are personally difficult for me to switch between on the bike. Plus the screen/font/details are too small for me to see at a quick glance. The Carplay screen offers a larger, clearer, simpler interface that can either show me all the info I need at once or easily swap screens. This lowers distractions for me immensely.
The added bonus is I like being able to keep my phone on my person in case I am ever separated from the bike and need to call for help

I have a Sena headset/mic in the helmet as does my wife so we can communicate when she's out with me on her bike (about 1/2 the time). The mic/headset links to the phone so I can tell the phone what I want nav-wise and I can hear nav instructions as well as see the route on the phone. Works really well. The only thing I use it for on the bikes is nav but you could tell it to play whatever music OR make/take phone calls Or take pics/shoot video, etc...

The only thing good about Waze was when you could have cookie Monster as the NAV Voice. Otherwise is too interactive, has too many ads, etc. Google Maps is great for the most part. I've been toying with replacing the Center Console and upgrading to a newer Wireless Android Auto/Carplay unit, but I do use the Factory setup and bluetooth Audio to the system. Would be nice to have it all in a larger screen. I bought a new center console, and plan to paint it to match the flat black/grey on the rest of the interior for an integrated look. Bought it on Ebay for $35 5 years ago  You can tell how motivated I am...... Let us know how this works out.
I'm with you on the no need for a phone/calls/texts/notifications when riding. I crave being DIS-connected, and plugged in 100% to riding. I will listen to music on occasion, but thats it really.

If you ever do find a new head reasonably priced let me know
-
Waze is great (imo) for commuting or having to get somewhere in the least amount of time possible. I also think it still is doing better with speed traps than Google maps. For a leisurely bike ride, I agree it's too chatty

Steve, By the time you get the unit and all the interfaces for steering wheel controls and adapters to factory amp, youre looking at over $1200.... and why I have just used my phone, though I do have a Tablet I could use if I really needed it. But I'm not as ancient as you (  ducking) and as long as I'm not trying to read and type in a forum like this, it's fine for GPS.
That's the main reason I have put it off............. No real need to waste that much $$

I'm interested in how it works out. I can barely see my 595 Garmin anymore.

I just picked up this for my bike ( just have to decide which one I'm putting it on ) mainly for the camera setup.

I bought a 7" Garmin several years ago for the truck. It is so easy to see and use.
As to the new one I'll stick it on the V85 a few times this winter in Az but primarly I got it for the truck because I feel the Garmin maps suck now.

We'll be thinking of you this Sunday. Turin and I (PHX area Guzzi riders club) heading down early to meet the Tuscon area Guzzi riders. Nice ride down for breakfast and then the long way back.
-
I should be done with the Christmas visits and back to Green Valley before the year ends. I hope!

Shoot me a PM when you get to AZ.
Let's try to make it happen.
