Title: A little ride with my oldest.
Post by: johnwesley on December 26, 2025, 05:49:24 PM
This morning my oldest (21) walked out to the shop and said,
“Dad, want to go for a ride?”

Only one answer to that.

I asked which bike—she picked the Quota.

We ran some back roads and came home via Talimena Drive. Caught up to a few sport bikes along the way, had a little fun, then pulled off at an overlook for a couple pics.

Riding with your kid when they’re grown and still want to ride with you is hard to beat. Even better when they choose a Guzzi.

Anyone else riding with their adult kids?
And Quota owners—do these bikes just seem to attract good days?

Good ride.

Great memories for sure, you raised her right!  My oldest has shown no interest in anything related to motorcycles, but my youngest has!

Me on the Calvin and my youngest son, will be 47 in march, on the Honda shadow.
That was a trip a few years ago on the BRP in the Great Smokey mountains. When we got home I helped him get a Harley
SoftTail deluxe. The soft tail is about the only bike he can flat foot as he’s only about 5’5” tall.

Good advert for protective gear.
(Lucky people i.e. never had road rash!)

I got back into riding when my ( then 19yr old ) son came home with a bike and my wife told me to go and talk to your kid NOW! and I did to which I went out and bought a bike to go out and ride with him! That was 5 bikes and 8yrs ago. The riding together has gotten less and less but we currently have made plans for Daytona Bike week 2026.

Some cool stories there, it’s fun to hear about the generations of riders. I figure that is the main thing keeping motorcycling alive and going. For me it like other traditions I celebrate that has been passed down for many generations.

That's amazing, and so special.

None of my 4 kids ever wanted to ride on their own. They loved being a passenger, but none made the leap to ride their own. My son started, but while in college was riding around town/campus on a scooter and got hit by a car, and he lost the desire. I still hope.... Always dreamed of doing a father and son trip. My youngest Daughter was taking her MC course 2 years ago, and one day while walking to work in Denver witnessed an idiot race down the street on a MC, run a stop sign, Tbone a car and then launched through the air and got cut in half by a telephone pole support wire...... She can't even think about riding anymore.

Other than my grandfather who was a NYC Motorcycle Cop, I am the only MC rider in my family..... Hoping my Grandson will get the itch.

I love those stories!

Mom: "Go talk some sense into that kid!"
Dad: "We talked!
Mom: "Well?"
Dad: "I'm buying another motorcycle tomorrow...."

Of my 3 kids two have motorcycles. My son has a K1600 BMW. My daughter has a Kawasaki cruiser of some sort, we don't talk so I don't know which model. My other daughter has no desire but she will ride pillon.
