I found out why my V7 is still at the dealer. They picked it up to install heated grips, as part of our agreed deal when I purchased it.
When I stopped by to ask about it, I found out that an employee dropped it when rolling it into the garage. The dealer already has the new parts on order. Muffler, heat shield, rear brake pedal, mirror, and front brake lever. All to be installed at no cost, so I can’t get too upset. Obviously, it was an accident and they are doing the right thing. However, since this is the 2026 Sport model, some of the parts are not yet available. Piaggio has part numbers but no cost or inventory as of yet. I’ve got my fingers crossed that parts become available in time for the Spring here in the Northeast US.
I was only able to get a couple of hundred miles on the bike before the heated grips came in.
Luckily, there is no damage to the tank, side covers, cylinder heads, etc. even the scrape on the muffler is not too bad. Outdoor have been much worse.

Put crash bar on it asap. Would have at least saved the tank and most likely the mufflers. I dropped my V7lll, not a scratch other than the black on the crash bars.

Missus made a good point: as compensation they should fit crash bars, at a much reduced/zero cost.
They don't have a demo bike that they can scavenge the parts from, or lend you the use of (even if weather doesn't permit)?
In the UK, you'd more than likely be entitled to a brand new replacement, if the original was purchased from the same dealer.

How about a formal extension of warranty computed from the date of crash to the date you get to ride it again?

They don’t have one at the shop. They got three in and all were sold. Two green ( including mine) and one gray.
They gave me $100 off the center stand and free installation for that and a hepco Becker backrest that I bought separately.
So maybe a couple of hours labor, plus the discount on the center stand.
I guess I could have pushed for more, but it was really just a tip over and definitely an accident.

Seems to me it's rideable with the cosmetic damage. So retrieve the bike and have them call you when the replacement parts arrive.

Yup, you let them off lightly! Wholesale price on the stand wouldn't be very much, I reckon. A bit grim that it took you to find out what the story was and they didn't inform you straight away - if I picked you up right.
Seems to me it's rideable with the cosmetic damage. So retrieve the bike and have them call you when the replacement parts arrive.
Good plan, if the weather was good enough for riding it, otherwise it may be as well to stay where it is, keeping liability with the dealer. If they get tired of seeing it taking up space, then they may "get a wriggle on" to get it fixed up.

It is rideable. I may take that option if Spring arrives before the parts.

Muffler is scratched as are the heat shields. Brake pedal is bent a bit, and the front brake lever is pretty twisted. Mirror and bar end are a total loss on that side. So not as bad as it could have been for sure.

The damage no matter how minor or major is irrevelant. Seems like the dealership was trying to hide the fact they messed up and were hoping parts would come in before you found out what they did. I would certainly express my dissatisfaction and insist they overnight parts from where ever and get the bike fixed as their number one priority. If they cannot get parts I would tell them to find another bike for me or refund my money. You bought a new bike they damaged it and seems like they tried to cover it up. Doesn't sound like a very trustworthy dealership.

I agree that they should have let you know right away about what happened. But, they are doing the right thing about fixing the issues as well as giving you a break on parts you wanted to add and labor for the work.
If they plan to keep the bike until all the repairs are complete. They should extend the warranty for the amount of time they keep it. Then you will still have the full time for the warranty.

Good on you and good on your dealer. Accidents happen and they’re doing what they can to make it right. Seems like you’re both being rational & reasonable. You’re a repeat customer their for a valid reason.
This too shall pass, all will be well.
I’m sure they’ll hand the bike over if/when the weather improves if all the parts that need to be replaced to safely ride the bike have been replaced. The cosmetic parts can get replaced when they come in. Win Win.

They had called me and left a message to call back. I waited until the weekend to drive down and pop in. They weren’t trying to cover anything up. Sorry if I said something that implied that.
Piaggio doesn’t have replacement parts in stock yet, but the dealer has ordered them. I wouldn’t be riding in the snow now anyway, so I’m not worried about the bike being there for a while more. They put it on a battery tender, and it’s stored indoors.
I’ve been going there for 40 years and they have been good that whole time.

One of the reasons I decided to post is I thought it was very Moto Guzzi of Piaggio to not have any replacement parts in stock for a new model. My dealer told me that the center stand was in stock, so they stocked accessories but not replacement parts like the muffler and the front brake lever. Maybe because the Sport brake lever is black, but still…… lol…

Not just MG/Piaggio; there's a similar situation with Triumph/Bajaj and the 400 range, though it is improving over time.

As a point of reference, Polaris with their 9 year dead Victory brand, has been stellar regarding replacement parts. Literally 95% of any part of the 106”/6 bikes is in their warehouse and ships direct to your home within hours.
This comes to an end by January 2027. In the last 9 years, I’ve simply built up my own parts shelf for the unique items. But, over 95% of the parts on my 2012 CCT and my 2013 Hard-Ball are available and in stock.
Why? Mostly because Polaris made two bike lines with Victory. A steel frame line and a Cross bike (cast aluminum frame) line. Both sharing the same engine, transmission and drive systems etc. As well as just about everything else except, body parts, wheels, handlebars and seats.
Piaggio also uses a lot of common items. They sourced a front brake master cylinder, they didn’t design a unique one. Therefore, the aftermarket likely has several options for things like brake levers. Maybe even one that’s common on an Aprilia.
