Title: Too many pop ups when using my cell phone on wildguzzi
Post by: bobrebos1 on February 15, 2026, 12:39:21 PM
I can’t hardly reply to messages, post new messages answer my messages without hitting back button then forward button like two or three times before I can get the post or message to go.  This is getting very frustrating.  I might need to leave this message board.  Iv understood we need the pops for making money but geez it’s getting hard to use this site.

If I leave my cell for interested parties is (920) four one 2-00 eight 8.  Text me and Il add your number to my contacts for future lunch rides.  My email is bobby6495@yahoo.com.

I also post our get togethers on the Southeastern Moto Guzzi Enthusiasts Facebook page if you use Facebook.  Thanks and hope to see some of you on the road sometime.  Bob

Switch your server to Duck Duck Go for your WGC Forum.
There are no adds.

On my windows 11 desktop I use adblocker pro. When I switch off this for Wildguzzi, I get the same adds as on my phone. The adds seem to come from the Google adds platform.

I run a Guzzi forum too. That shows no adds without add blocker.

I hate the interface on my phone; sometimes it's so bad that I cannot even see the forum posts. I get frustrated and go to advrider. the I-pad isnt as bad, I can see the forums easily.

+1 for Duck Duck Go and Ad Blocker
TN Mark gets a bonus for saying "ad" for advert, instead of "adds" for additions.  :thumb:

P.S. What ads, I see no ads? (Said in a Monty Python type of way.)

.. scurries off ..

Same here on my iPhone.  Do you have an iPad or laptop/desktop computer?

Just install Firefox Focus browser on your cell.
All pop up ads are gone.
Site operates as it should.

I just installed Firefox focus browser on my cell phone.  Now I can actually go to the messages without 30 pop ups!   Yay.  Thanks everyone .  UPDATE.  Nope, still can’t get by the pops.  Time to stop using the cell phone for this site I guess!!!

Sounds very annoying!!  I very seldom use my iPhone for web browsing so haven't had the problem.  I don't see any ads at all on this site using my MacBook Pro/DuckDuckgo/AdBlock.

I still get them on Utube and I'm REALLY tired of seeing a guy who's done nothing for years and is now starting his Tai Chi chair workout!!

DuckDuckGo

Download and install it and then make it your default browser.

It's free and it works.

P.S. You can view Youtube videos with the built-in DuckDuckGo player and not get those annoying Youtube commercials.

The Samsung browser with its basic a blocker has worked well.   It's on all Samsung phones, so othing else to install or configure.

I do understand the frustration of having the ads to deal with. I was frustrated turning them on. But the sad fact is, without the offset of resources they provide, this site would cease to exist. I cannot afford to keep it going on my own, so that help from google ads is very welcome, albeit the annoyance of it.

That said, I would absolutely love to turn them off for good. To help me do that, consider becoming a monthly donor or yearly donor. As of right now, less than 1% of the member base are donors and they are the ones keeping it afloat for everyone else. My job is easy. I can keep it running, but its the supporters that give it life support.

Lastly, the google ad revenue is down a lot compared to before, as evident from the adblockers and that will put even more of a burden on receiving the needed funds to keep afloat. I get it, I really do. But what other choice do I have to be able to provide this free resource for the entire world?

To whom it may concern,

that nose hair clipper ad really grosses me out.  I've only seen it here, but every time I refresh that page.

Just a thought. Are you able to turn off for paying members? That is how it's worked on other groups I'm in, cheapskates got ads, paying members were spared.
This might encourage more people to donate. No clue what brings in more money, donations or Google ads

No, that is not an option with this software unfortunately. Great idea though.

I use the Brave browser on the computer, it blocks everything, even you tube ads.  no extensions needed.  They have a mobile version also but I don't use my mobile for that stuff.

BUT go to you local cell provider and have them get the adware off the phone if they can.  You got infected somewhere along the way. Sounds like my MIL phone. We switched her to apple.
