Title: V,7 special engine management light
Post by: yosemite on February 18, 2026, 12:15:50 PM
Hi
The engine management light on my 2014 v7 special is on.
When bike is initially turned on clocks go through normal cycle and all lights go off apart from ones that stay on , oil and neutral , then when engine is started and runs  the cycle is repeated as though the ignition has just been turned on, except the engine management light now stays on. Neutal also stays on but oil light goes out  working as they should.
Battery is fully charged, showing 13.2 volts without engine running, and around 14.3 with engine running  , fuel pump seems to be running ok, bike seems to drive well, although not had a hard blast as I dont really want to risk doing damage,
am I right to assume the diagnostic connector is under the seat next to the battery? Does this need connecting to a pc or is it like some japanese bikes where you connect two wires and a code comes up on instruments?

To read diagnostics (and change maps), you’ll need the GuzziDiag software (free!) downloaded to a PC and cables. I think this is the most up-to-date tutorial thread from Beetle:

You can also go to the GuzziDiag website for the info:

Step 1 should be to re-set the ECU. Without Guzzidiag, just remove the negative battery terminal for, say, 15 minutes and reconnect. Try this. It may solve the problem. It may not. But worth trying.
