My 2025 V85TT is about ready for new tires. It came with Michelin Anakee Adventure tires which have performed wonderfully except they are annoyingly loud. Almost 10K miles on them and they are still holding up which is impressive. Good earplugs help but I would like to find something similar but with less noise. I have had good luck with Tourance on my old GS but I know the new version is a different animal. I ride almost exclusively on road but like to be prepared for occasional gravel or dirt if I run into it. Has anybody tried the new Anakee Adventure 2? Any input appreciated. Ken

I've not tried Adventure 2's but I replaced my worn Anakee Adventures with Continental TKC 70s which seem to be wearing as well and not quite so noisy.

I liked the Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tires in my V85. Good on the road and decent off until things get muddy. If you want something more off road worthy try the Scorpion Rally Adventouring and if mostly on road, I really liked the Scorpion Trail III.

On tire I guess you need to decide on mileage or quiet. I didn't like the Anakees, got low miles, about 8k ,miles. Tire noise doesn't bother me. I and running the Dunlop TrailMax Missions and just passed the 20k miles mark with another 2000 or 3000 left in them. For me it is cost for that kind of mileage I am happy paying $500 for tires. I was thinking about trying the Dunlop Mutant but need more feedbacK from folks.

Get some pilot road 4, 5 or 6’s. GT or standard doesn’t much matter. Whatever tire you pick run 38 to 40 psi in the front tire. It will stop most tires from cupping and creating adding road noise. The roads a pricey but wear very well and provide an amazing ride and road feel.

I ditched the Anakee’s early for Road 5’s. I don’t do much off roading. Very happy with them.

Tire are so subjective it really hard to make a suggestion. I will say for what you describe as normal riding almost any tire save for a race slick will do.
For the last few years I have been running Anakee 3's on the GS's and am getting good mileage out of them, great traction we/dry, good ride quality and enough thread depth for the occasional gravel road. The down side is on certain bikes they have some road noise.
With tires pricing continually rising last fall I bought another set of Anakee 3's to spoon on just before my summer 2026 trip when I found them for $353 a set. A few weeks later I realized that after my 2026 trip the bike will be almost ready for another set of tires so I decided to get another set while the price was reasonable. I went to the same site and the tires were over $100 more per set. Fortunately I shopped around and found another set in the $360 range and bought them. Hated spening $700 on MC tires right before the holidays but if it plays out like its been it'll save me well over $100+ by the time I spoon on second set.
FWIW I did buy a GS last November and it has Anakee Adventure's on it and while they work they are not nearly as confidence inspiring as the 3's. YMMV.

My last set was Shinko 705 rear, poor mileage and a Heidenau Ranger front which was good but noisy.
Running Dunlop Trailmax Missions for the next set front and rear. They are very stiff and hard to install but I expect excellent mileage out of them.

As a former Shinko user I have come to realize their false economy. While Shinko's are generally less costly they also typically do not wear as long as a lot of the more premium competition. If you are paying shop to change cheaper tires more often you may very well be paying more over all and never have the benefit of a good tire.
I have used the beloved 705 on several motorcycles and the one thing the 705 (especially the front) does universally the same on all bikes is they kill any bikes handling. The 705 front slows steering so badly you clock it on a sun dial.
The only time I'll seek out 705's is if I am selling a bike and it needs tires and I want to spend as little money as possible while giving the bike the curb appeal of new tires.

I put shinkos on the T3 I am working on. Mainly because of the bargain price, I have enough in this damn thing already. I don't intend on doing any serious riding on it so I suppose these tires will do. They sure look nice though.

Shinko tires suck. I'll just leave it there.
Now, the stock Dunlop Trailmax Meridian have surprised me. handle well enough on spirited road riding and very well on packed dirt and gravel. Got 7.3K on the rear and most likely another 1K left. Front gotta be 3K left. First time EVER I got more than 6K out of any brand tire. Not sure what's next...............

I just got the Anakee 3 for 350 shipped to the door from Rocky mountain, shinko 705 just came off and had anakee road? when I got the bike before the shinkos. So far the noise on the anakee3 are much better than the roads were. I've only done a 30 min break in ride though and no gravel. Slight whistle the first ten miles but that went away and they were no louder than the 705's, The shinkos only lasted 6k on the rear and the front had tread but way wobbly.

I am tempted to try the new Michelin Anakee Adventure 2. It would be nice to have some real world feedback and not just the advertising copy to help make a decision. Getting close to 10K miles on the original Anakee Adventure is pretty impressive. I have been very satisfied with the performance of these tires except the noise and if the new ones are as good or better with 30% less noise I will be happy. I am off for a ride this weekend and by time I return I will need to decide on new rubber. Ken
