Are V7 Racer/Cafe style seat pans any skinnier toward the rear compared to the standard bench-style seat pans? Only asking about saddles for the V7 up to 2021, so this doesn’t include the newer saddles on the E5 850cc models.
I’m considering getting a V7 cafe/racer saddle, but if the seat pan is the same width, I may instead choose to just buy the cheapest V7 saddle I can find and make my own cafe seat. I’ve seen a couple pictures of the factory racer/cafe seat pans, and I can see the pans are slightly different, I just can’t tell about the width.

Seats are from a v7iii Aniversario and I believe the V7 cafe classic. I think that was also sold as the “solo” seat for the V7i and V7ii

Thanks, Error! I see very minor differences in the mold around the rubber pucks, but otherwise, they look to be pretty much the same seat pans? Does that reflect what your eyes tell you?

Yes. Pans are all the same V7-V7iii as far as I know.

They are sculpted different, for clearance on the various types of rear mudguard and fuses, so that is what you're probably noticing. Without measuring, my "seat of the pants" ass-essment is that they are the same width - I'd prefer narrower. (At the moment I have 4, yes four, alternative seats for my V7III !!! )

Yes. Pans are all the same V7-V7iii as far as I know.
So let me rephrase that.
Pans have differences, but seats from the V7i,ii,and iii are interchangeable between bikes as far as I can tell. My bike is aV7ii, and the seats I use are from a V7i and V7iii. I think that’s what you were asking?

Nah, I know the V7 range of seats all fit one another up to the 2021 E5 (I mentioned that in my original post). I simply wanted to know if the cafe seat pan was different from the standard bench-style seat pan. I’m a little surprised—I thought the cafe/racer’s seat pan might’ve been slightly shorter or skinnier in the rear. But proof is in the pictures!

Not sure if you have your answer, but I've got a 2014 V7 Racer with the factory cafe racer seat and plastic shroud covering and I also have a 2014 V7 Stone seat that I bought used. Happy to sent pictures or take measurements.

I think I’m set. I’m looking to put a cafe seat on my V9 (with a V7 tank), and I’m weighing my options. Considering the rear frame rails remain horizontal on the V9 has me doubting somewhat that I’ll be happy with the bottom edge of the V7 seat, so I might end up building or buying a generic one and modifying to fit.
Appreciate the assist, y’all.
