Title: Bad exhaust header gasket?
Post by: Gliderjohn on April 06, 2026, 09:27:36 PM
Black soot on my upper left cylinder right behind the exhaust header. Tightened the upper header bolt about a 1/2 turn and the lower a 1/4 turn. Will clean up and see what it looks like after some miles. Possibly exhaust gasket going south?

Oh, only 35 years old or so. Damn, a Guzzi is so expensive to keep up.

Hello Glider----pull the exhaust bolt down thingy (you can tell the thingy--its round)apply a generous amount of Fubar grease around effected area, toque to specks,or as they do in Pakistan tighten the hell out of it.Probably wont help your problem,at least youll get to spend a day workin on your Guzzi.---See you down the road Bro!

There should be a way to renew those gaskets instead of forking out money for a new one every 35 years.
