Title: Rear grab rail wanted
Post by: gentlemanjim on May 17, 2026, 11:03:36 PM
2015 VII Stone early pre-ABS.  I like the look of the grab rail that wraps around the rear of the seat.  I often see these on Specials.  I bought one on eBay and returned it as the side rails were too short to reach the shocks.  The distance from frame mount to the top of the shock is 10.5" or 11.5" as there are two mounting holes on the frame.

Does anyone know which model would be the correct source and where to get it?

Not sure what you're looking for, but try here:

Here's the item I'm seeking outlined in red.  It appears not available on any 2013, 14 or 1015, Only VIII.  My concern is the length otf

mounting arm.

2015 VII Stone early pre-ABS.

I know it sounds like I'm being pedantic again, but things like model names and years are important when ordering parts and accessories because things change.

IIRC that's no such thing as an "early pre-abs V7II" - IF YOU'VE GOT A 5-SPD, Heron Head, V7, single TBI bike it's a MkI or stated another way, it's just a plain V7 from the first generation of the Stone/Special/Racer.

The V7II always has a 6-spd w/ ABS/TC.

Why is this significant in this case?

I'm pretty sure the shock lengths are all different MkI vs MKII vs MkIII.

And I'm pretty sure that grab rail was not produced before the MkIII.

Now I DON'T know if the frame mount points are the same across those three, that might be the case. But I do have both a MkI and MkIII in the garage and I'm happy to try and take some measurements if it helps.

My MkIII does NOT have the grab rail, and it's a model that uses the separate subframe to hold the rear fender and tail light assembly so it's a little different from the MkI.

But I do use the same seats across both bikes so I know there are similarities too.

Agreed that there doesn’t appear to have been a factory rear grab rail developed for the V7’s before the V7 III, but a couple aftermarket options DO (or did) exist:

One is the Ventura modular rack system, which was made for those V7 models with the forward upper shock mounts. A couple of us active folks on the forum (including myself) have had the Ventura rack system and dig it.

You buy the side brackets and then whatever rear attachment you’d like. They have a grab handle as an option.

Spaan, another lesser-known aftermarket provider, has a rear grab rail, but it sits a little higher:

Another potential option that I’m not sure anyone has tried is a rear grab handle for the NEWER V7s—the 850cc models. They repositioned the upper shock mounts forward once more, but the rear upper frame rails have also been changed a little, so I’m not sure if the mounting points would line up exactly:

I agree that even if a title says V7 II, if the motor wasn’t repositioned, and it isn’t a 6-speed, or has traction control and ABS, it’s not a V7 II. At least for parts searching, be they necessary or farkles.

But I do feel fairly confident that Guzzi didn’t touch the upper shock and rear mounting points on the models from its inception UP TO the V7 III. My evidence—the side grab rails are listed as fitting all models up through 2016:

I suspect the rear shock lengths differ between the V7 II and previous V7s because of the repositioning of the engine.

I traded my V7lll Special for a '26 850 Special so I cannot compare the two. However I kept the CBow rack system from the lll in hopes that I might be able to use it on the new 850. I was able to use it with some minor modification. I think I had to make a couple of spacers. There is a little difference but not a lot.
