Its an API SN rated, low SAPS engine oil, synthetic, made by Shell (very similar to their Helix product line, and may be the same aside from viscosity)for BMW. Pretty heavily biased to protecting emissions systems rather than ultimate thermal protection, so in that regards your Motul 7100 is probably a better primary fill. Since we don't have to worry about wet clutch compatibility it should be fine for a top-up.
-
It might cause your cylinders to droop. Worse yet you might have to go to an authorized BMW dealer to install it.

Liqui Moly is what most BMW folks use. It is what we used at 2 shops I worked at, along with whatever Guzzi suggested (Agip at the time).

In the words of Pete Roper "oil is good, use it"

It will make your turn signals stop working.

Yes.

French and German oils don't get along too well they still remember the 1940s.

I've been using BMW 10w60 in my 22 V85tt for probably half of the oil changes I've done in the past 26,000 miles. Meets all the specs and its cheaper (here, at least) than anything from Motul or LiquiMoly, I can pick it up at any BMW dealer (nice since 10w60 can be a bit hard to come by sometimes, not much takes it) and the bike doesn't seem to mind it at all.

I don't get hemmed up on the buzz words like "motorcycle" or "space shuttle" on the front of the bottle. I flip the bottle around and look the the specification/rating is has and if these meet or exceed what the manufacturer calls out for and is in the correct weight/viscosity range the oil is good to use.
FWIW I do use LiquiMoly 5W-40 HC street for the water cooled BMW 1200/1250's as it meets or exceeds the manufactures requirements and it is affordable. Earlier this week I was looking at my usual haunt (WalMart.com has routinely been the cheapest) to replenish a 4L jug I recently used and the price went up $5 to $43 from a few months ago when I last bought. I did a quick search and found the Dennis Kirk the same 4L bottles of LiquiMoly 5W-40 HC street priced at $32.96 and if you spend $89.99 you get free shipping. So I bought three (3) 4L jugs for a 104.82 = to $8.74 per liter including tax and shipping. Ordered on June 9th and was sitting on my doorstep yesterday afternoon June 11th.

Like on my bikes I don't get exited when it says synthetic(mostly BS). Leave your dirt & carbon in there for 3 times as long. That way you have 3 times as much crap sandwiched in all your motor parts. Yea, that's better. Your Chinese parts will fail faster.

Or you could take the bike to the nearest MG shop 750 miles away to drop if off for 8 to 10 months while waiting for Piaggio to get oil back in stock and sent state side.

My O'Reillys has Castol 10-60 on the shelf. An owner of a mom and pop dealership years ago said he had seen more bikes damaged by lack of than brand or grade of oil.

This is the place where I get my Liqui Moly 4T Full Synthetic 10w-60 oil for the V85TT, https://www.ebay.com/itm/144402256000?_skw=liqui+moly+10w60&itmmeta=01KTYBPDZQKM99K936JGQ7R8R2&hash=item219f0b9080:g:1r4AAOSwkYhhVjMY&itmprp=enc%3AAQALAAAA8GfYFPkwiKCW4ZNSs2u11xC4PpclbRIlPLVHWzvlv0B6jMGo%2BsG%2FFmwPooozkEZuHWMwCi1lastAIPENIsaTEtsHWJN%2FUD3w%2FHV4mvq6IqpPTKlnS8N%2BYLw24sXAOweohQoUTJwjeqoj2NyDtqwLbX2Mr5ML8F1abH7HivyWtu2sBg%2FbYm0h7pbEOLRTf7KfHhp2iMwz8NELNONMosPwzp2ROMyHx5o1BykhN3bEzNQmZeOhinvxzDNrGts5d%2BKYiJ61X6KClMbHc82U%2FsxlxjMP7H5uEFEBckwFGMAhmQUoWpgn0wlkBppUW2ozQCTong%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR_zf2cvXZw . Their prices have increased a bit as of late, but the price does include free shipping. You can also do a best offer for the oil, so you might be able to get it for under $50 for 4 ltrs shipped.

Thanks for that link. :violent1:

For Motorcycles: Never use automotive ACEA A3/B4 oil in a motorcycle that requires JASO MA/MA2 unless the bottle explicitly states it meets both specifications. Using standard car oil will likely cause your motorcycle clutch to slip.

Using standard car oil will likely cause your motorcycle clutch to slip.
Which has absolutely no meaning for the dry clutch bikes.
-
What is ‘“car” oil? What oil do I use in the Kawasaki engine that powers my zero turn or the B&S motor on the snowblower? Do I need to get Zero turn” or Snow blower” oil or does my engine even know what it’s powering?
