Title: Front Rotor Rattle
Post by: mechanicsavant on June 15, 2026, 07:49:20 AM
On my 21 V7/850 I’ve noticed a rattle after about 20 miles or so . If I put 1 finger on the front brake lever no rattle ! The brakes don’t seem to be dragging & checking the rotor with a heat gun no excessive heat is seen . Rear rotor & font rotor are within 10 deg. Of each other . Once bike has set about 30 Min. Or so rotor seems to be tight again ! Anyone else noticing this ?

No. But if I did notice my front brake rotor rattling I would have it checked out immediately.

Google for fixed, semi-floating and fully floating discs.
You ain't heard rattling until ya hear Laverda Formula front Serie Oro discs!

Both the front brake rotors on my 2022 V85TT rattled quite a bit. Not all that long ago you could buy OEM Aprillia rotors for a little over $100 a piece, part #856774, but they are now discontinued. Luckily, I bought a pair from AF1 over a year ago and just recently installed them on the V85TT.

The V7 floating rotors are known to be pretty loose/rattly.

Some have gotten them replaced under warranty for supposed excessive movement.

The one on my 2013 is downright noisy at times, but it doesn't adversely affect braking and I saw no need to replace it when I installed new pads this spring.
