I am having trouble figuring out the oil level (or amount of fork oil) in the left hand fork for my 2022 E5 V85. This is the fork without the spring. I am not sure if it is the same as E4 bikes. I think my service manual might be for E4. It shows left and right forks are swapped (spring fork on left side, unlike my E5).
The manual says 467 mm with 129mm below the rim for the RH fork (spring fork) and 386ml for the LH fork.
Should both forks have 129mm clearance from the rim to the oil level?

The oil level is 1 mm different between the two, but the quantity of oil it takes to get to that level in each leg is significantly different.

I tried to post a photo from the manual but it’s not working for some reason. The right fork (with the spring) is 144mm from the top. The other fork is 143mm from the top. I could not get my level gauge through the slits inside the left fork, so I just added the quantity of oil the manual called for.

When it comes time to change the fork oil in my '25 E5+ V85TT, I was planning to measure the amount of oil that comes out of each fork and then replace it with an equal amount. Do you guys think this is a reasonable way to do it?

Yeah, Dave Moss "dump & run" method. I'd do the same too if I was sure the original fill was accurate but knowing MG...who knows. Good luck. I haven't researched the fork oil change specifics for the v85 but it seems real inconvenient (to me) to try to measure the oil level with the spring in place, if that is the case. On my other junk it is either install so many cc's or or fill to a specific distance from the top of the leg w/o spring (don't recall if extended or compressed).
