I've been around this game a long time as a player, parent of a NYS champion, and referee. This breakdown is a wonderful example of how the greatest player ever did it.

Did not play organized futbol, to my regret. Got into it as a volunteer parent and my first gig was to assist the all time goal leader in Notre Dame history. Allowed me to only pick up only thoughtful, proper theory from a patient and exceptional communicator. My second child, a daughter, excelled, and I stayed with, becoming a nationally licensed coach in order to be allowed work the sidelines at the club level. Between 2 kids, ended up coaching hundreds of games before handing her off to her high school varsity and college coaches.

POINT BEING, I eventually learned to see, and to love, the beautiful game, and this article captures exactly that. This should be required reading by every 'sports fan' that says they can't watch, too boring. The goals are a climax, certainly, only made that much more sublime because of the work that goes into them. In the way a cherry is a great topper of a sundae, only a cherry is pointless. It's the matter it sits upon that takes time and brings the real substance.
