I am going to look at a 2023 MG Mandello S. It's got about 16,000 miles on it. The dealer wants $9795 for it.I have not owned a Guzzi in many years. I was wondering what I should look for as far as problems with the bike go. My history with this brand has led to oil leaking issues and some reliability issues. My last Guzzi was a 2004 Lemans V11 sport.
I love Guzzis and I want to give the brand one more try. Please, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

That's a good looking Mandello. When you test ride it pay attention to how it shifts, many complained about that and Guzzi made some changes to improve it for the 2024 Stelvio and 2024 Mandello.

Personally, I would pass it up. I would get a late production 2024 or newer. Frankly, the newer the better. 25, 26 models are out there as well as 2027's. There have been some niggling issues with the early years of this model and they have also been several upgrades to it.

The only thing that matters is would you be happy with that bike setting in your driveway? Ride it to see if you like it.
Personally, the silver saddle bag trim drives me crazy! Yep, that's how they all come from Guzzi. I would be getting it painted grey or black. Anyone know if that piece comes off easily.

List for current models is about $17k, the dealer you are getting the quote from, is he trying to sneak by you the fact that guzzi is offering a $1k performance rebate on all current/prior year v100 till jul. 31?
At the $10k price, as others have stated it may be a better value getting an updated model not a 4 year old one.

Dealer in San Antonio TX was selling a new 2024 for $9995 a few months ago. I was interested, took a look but decided to pass. $9795 seems high for a three year old machine with 16,000+ miles.

Yes, it comes off. It's also fairly easy to wrap. I wrapped mine in a pearl white vinyl to match my bike.

That's pretty steep for a 2-23 with 16K....... $7500-8000 IMNSHO.....
Is a fantastic bike, but not alot of value there.

Wasn't '23 the first production year for the "new" V100 engines? I'd pass if that was the case, the first year had known problems. If you're dead set on a V100 Mandello, do some shopping around for deals on new '24s and '25s. Whether the S model is worth the extra money is up for debate. I had a '24 V100 Mandello Aviazione Navale, traded it in after owning it for about 16 months, only put 700 or so miles on it. There was this very annoying jerky clunk when shifting it from neutral into first. For a bike that costs this much, that transmission should shift buttery smooth. I traded it in on a '25 Triumph Speed Twin 1200, no regrets.

2022 was the first year of the V100 and 2023 saw the first exports to the US. Early V100's had several teething issues, most notably leaks of engine coolant from various connections. That first gear clunk is due to their version of a wet clutch and it's part and parcel of the V100 line, even the latest units. It's fly in the otherwise nice ointment. I think there was an early '24 modification intended to reduce it. Yeah, they should have engineered it out of the machine from the beginning but I have gotten used to it and it's not a big deal to me now.

I have had my share of HDs, old and new. They all have a massive clunk when shifting to first. The V100 clunk feels very mild and wimpy in comparison. :grin: The V100 clunk has never bothered me in the slightest, nor does the HD clunk for that matter.

I agree with Dave. The clunk gets a bit softer with mileage as does the rest of the shifting. I felt that the gearbox needs some refinement. However the clunk will never go away due to the wet clutch and it's general design. I sold my Mandello at 13k miles only because of my physical limitations due to age not because of the bike. I had an earlier '23, I believe later ones are better.

You need to find one to ride and decide for yourself. You may find the plusses far outweigh the negatives.

I've had zero "teething" problems with my '23 and I haven't heard much at all about them.
