I bought an oil pan extender ,which has the oil filter on the outside, for my 1999 California. If you have installed this did you leave the existing plate on and put the extender between the lower pan and the upper 7/8" plate and use extra long screws ? If you did where did you get stainless allen screws the correct length ?

My local Ace Hardware has an excellent assortment of stainless metric SHCS.

Nice bike! Kept in wonderful external condition. Mine looked like that 100K ago. :-(
Can you provide a photo of your existing engine and sump casting? The slightly older Guzzi Tontis had a shallow sump bolted directly to the engine casting. Guzzi extended the sump around 97/98. I suspect that the bike you have came from the factory with a 1" spacer already in place to lower the sump. Assembly required two identical gaskets. One between the sump and spacer and the other between the spacer and engine block.
Shortly after, Guzzi produced a much deeper sump casting and abandoned the 1" spacer. (thus requires only one gasket). I think the deeper sump casting came with the Jackal perhaps?? Not sure when the change occurred. Guzzi is famous for using up old parts stock and substituting new in mid-production. Your pictures will determine which you have.
Can you show a picture of your new sump extender? I suspect that you can just swap the new, external extender for the original. Bolts and gaskets will all be the same. However if you have the later/deeper sump you likely will not be able to install your new spacer. If so, it shouldn't be too hard to find a used original shallow sump and use that with your new spacer to get the factory effect.
BTW, the purpose of the sump spacer is to lower the high tide level of the oil pool and increase the volume of air space inside the engine above the oil. It is NOT intended for you to add a larger capacity of oil. The whirling crankshaft tends to splash into the oil puddle. The "V" engine design causes the air space inside the engine to increase and decrease with every rotation. Together, these design factors can promote oil leaks. Lowering the sump and puddle reduces both.
BTW #2, I think the original oil dipstick came in two versions to match the changed oil level. Three quarts or three liters and forget about the stick level.

There is a guy sells stainless on Ebay, was on this forum long time ago from W.VA. He may have long ones. 18 all together. Unless you do 14 & 4 hex.
I got a new Harpers & when started motor it blew one of the pressed in plugs across the shop. When I called them they said send it back. I took it to a machine shop & they put cap back in, heiliarked it, machined flush. No more pressed in crap, good forever.

Fasteners of all types available from: McMaster Carr, on the internet. They have a phone number.

I was riding with two 1998 EVs that were identical. Both were the hot dog color even. But I noticed that one had a factory extender, and the other had a deep sump.
Are you saying that you 1999 has the spacer? I would have thought it was gone.

IIRC, I bought SS replacement sump screws for my Mille at Fastenal.

If yours has this spacer plate:

remove it and install the outside oil filter setup.
By '99 it should have the deep oil pan and no spacer though. #27A in this illustration.
