Title: V85 steering stem cover missing?
Post by: Clifton on August 09, 2026, 05:38:26 PM
I just saw the steering stem hole on my 2021 V85TT which I never noticed before and I'm thinking there must gave been some kind of cover there. If anyone has a chance take a look at yours to see if it has one. I looked at a fiche and didn't see one but I think I would have noticed an uncovered hole that would let water in and need to find the part number for the missing cover. Maybe not and it's been like this since new. Meanwhile I just taped over it for now.

Hi Clifton,

Mine just has a hole there. I probably have a plug of some sort that would fit, but I never thought about.
Now, of course, I can't stop thinking about it...

Cheers!

Thanks for replying Craig. I guess maybe mine always just that that hole as well and somehow I never paid attention. But when washing it yesterday I noticed it and thought that would not be a good place for water to lay in most of the time.

On the 1970s Guzzis that was where the steering damper adjustment was. Is the hole all the way through or is the bottom sealed?

My '23 Travel came without a cap/plug, I ran over to the local Ace hardware and found a black plastic furniture cap to stuff in there.
