I have my eye on a 1200 Sport and having never ridden one and previously owning a B1100 I would like to hear you guys that are familiar with both bikes to relate your opinion on the riding position. The 1200 I am eyeing has lowered pegs and Aprilia bars and a Corbin seat. I did sit on a 1200 Sport several years back at a dealer and it seems the riding position was a little more aggressive than the B1100 but memory does not serve well.

The 1200 bar is MUCH lower & further reach
I had the Sport 1200 bar on my Breva.. Not for me!
I kept the risers and swapped to the highest ProTaper bar they make (KX High) and it's great.
As far as the Aprilia Mana bar goes.. It looks even higher than my ProTaper

The pegs are going to be in the same location as on the B1100.
The nice thing about the 1200 Sport is that the bars are easily changeable. For many, the stock bars were not comfortable, the popular change is to the Aprilia Mana bars.
While never having ridden a B1100, I find my 1200 Sport with the Mana bars to be extremely comfortable. As far as the Corbin seat, Corbin states their standard seat is a little lower than the stock Guzzi seat. I had mine built up to be the same height as stock as I didn't want to give up any legroom.

The rest of the world csn still buy the 1200 Sport, with the 8V engine and revised (much closer) bars.
I find mine really comfortable. You could try and get yourself a pair of the current bars.

I have LSL Superbike bars, ROX risers and a Corbin on my Sport. Very comfortable. I find the pegs to be perfectly placed on the bike. The stock bars make for a very long reach over the tank and forced my jewels into the back of the tank with the stock seat. The Corbin is very comfortable but I really like Corbin seats. Some folks think they are too hard. The stock seat had too much forward slope, not enough side support and the foam was way too soft for a 215 pounder like me.

Change the stock ones out for this setup, very comfortable.
Breva 1100 with 1 1/2 " risers and Aprilia Mana bars.

Thanks for the sage advice. I forgot to mention that the bike is in the north west about 2500 miles away and I would have to buy and ship. I am also looking at a B1100 a days drive that has been set really set up nice with upgraded front fork springs and several other mods and I know I can make it fit right, never should have sold the one I had.

Mana bars on mine. I'm 5'9''. Leaning forward but still comfortable.

The big difference with the mana bars is pull back. This drops your elbows in a more natural position. My bike had stock bars and Bui risers. I still couldn't stand the "elbows out" riding style. Be aware if you wan risers as well as Mana bars, the fit means very fussy work getting every centimeter out of the existing cable.
Buy the 1200 over the b1100

Does anyone have experience with finding some extra slack in the B1200 wiring? I've got a bar from a Yamaha XSR-900, and it's at the limit for the left bar wiring, in terms of rotating back. It's a narrower bar, but it't taller too, and being unable to rotate it that last few degrees, it leaves it with the bar ends being pointed slightly up, which is driving me nuts! Is there anything to be gained by opening the headlight pod and finding some extra wiring in there?
Thanks!

There's nothing to be gained in the headlight as no wiring is stored in there.
Just follow the wiring from the switch pods and see if you can find some slack. It's been so long that I don't remember where I found some extra other than I ended up undoing all the little rubber wire keepers and doing some tugging.

The 1100 has tall bars to begin with, so I'm guessing it has more wire to play with. I was hoping that the 1200, which came with a low bar, had the same wiring length, but was hiding it someplace!
