Hello, does anyone know what the difference is between the center stand between the California II model and an 81 G5? They look identical, and from what I understand, both models have the same frame - What's the difference?
The Cali II part number is: 29430300
The G5 part number is: 18430360
Also, can the swingarm from a California II be mounted on the G5? I think (not 100% sure though) that the Cali II has an indentation on the swing arm to fit a 120/90/18 tire, whereas the G5 doesn't have that indentation - Are they the same otherwise?
Thanks for the assistance!

Centerstand is the arm is abit different.
Swingarm on Cal2 is longer than G5 and has a stiff bar across in front of tire. I run a 130 on my Cal2 rear or 5.10.

Thanks for the reply. Is the difference on the stand to fit the muffler cutout maybe? Do you think I'll I be able to use the Cal2 stand on the G5 with OEM mufflers?
I didn't realize the Cal2 had a longer swingarm - does that mean the wheel base (distance between front axle and rear axle) is different on the cal2 vs the other Tonti frames? (T3, Convert, G5)
Thanks again.

Should fit, no cutout on Cal2 mufflers like on G5/T3
Wheelbase is longer front and back of bike.

Ok, thanks again - sorry, one more questions and I'll stop, I promise! The G5, convert, T3 have straight mufflers, whereas the California II, SP, etc. have upsweep mufflers. Can the upsweep muffler be mounted on the stock G5, Convert headers/crossover, or would those need to be changed to mount the upsweep type mufflers?

I have seen them on your model, crossover should work. Might have to modify brackets.

I just wanted to do a follow up on this for other in the future with the same question. The California II centerstand won't work on the shorter Tonti frames without some modifications. The Cali II stand is a little bit taller (maybe 1"), but the problem is that the middle brace (the tube that connects to two sides) is lower on the California II and it won't work on the shorter swingarm tonti frames because that brace hits the tire when the center stand is in it's riding position. The stand can be made to work if that center brace were to be moved up an inch or so. I'll post a photo soon comparing the two type.

The inlet on the upsweep mufflers is straight so the upsweep shouldn't matter with the SP x-over as it is short. The SPII x-over is the same and I have it on my Cal III with the upswept mufflers. Fits perfectly.

Center stands will be different for some models as you have seen. The one for the T5 is shorter, probably due to the 16" wheels. It is really too short as it does not raise the rear wheel fully off the pavement. One day I will fix mine, but, not today :)

This.
I did a write up on the differences a couple years or so ago with pics of several variants lined up. Side-by-side it's easy to see the overall length, cross brace placements and the types of kick bars in the different versions. My conclusion then was that the long wheelbase stands interfere with SWB rear wheels, and that there are several styles of kick bars to suit your mufflers and personal preferences.
