Actually it used to be my bike and sidecar. I sold them separately to Doug. He's been riding, even when the temperature is down at ridiculous temperatures.

Now that's "air-cooled" taken to the extreme. ;)
-
HARD CORE!
-
I should perhaps add that:
It's about 45 miles from Doug's place to mine
He's been using a set of light chains (hardware store chain wrapped around the tyre) but wore them out over the last few days
He's been riding almost every day, even when the temperature was below -20c
The 74 Eldofornia starts easily, even when it's really cold
He's the only person I know who's a dafter bugger than me! (JB doesn't count - different league)
Nick
and I guess we should have trimmed the chains better............. ....

Damn, isn't that hell on the rims spokes and nipples?
I'd make sling pieces with chain & leather, tow strap, or rubber bungee bits...
Fit them tight on the tire slightly under inflated.. Then top off the air to semi-hold them in place

Are there any Guzzisti anywhere that don't have a grey beard? ~; (it's also effective insulation.....) ;-T

I'm in Ontario. My beard is white. Hasn't been grey since I was about 35 :D
-
I just thought that is the way all Canadians looked :o ;D

Can't grow a beard. Too much Indian blood..
-
I'm more surprised by the dog relaxing in the snow as if it were a warm sunny day ;D
-
Dang that is a "cool" rig. Ride safe, turn into the skids?
-
HARD CORE!
:+1
I won't even bother to take my friends snowmobile out in the winter time.
You are the definition of HARD CORE! :bow

I'm guessing you don't spend much time in the cold. Our dogs love it. Jenny (our previous dog) isn't looking to come in, this look says 'Please don't make me come in!"

I don't have a beard, and if I did, it wouldn't be grey or white. Well, maybe a few grey flecks, but not many…….yet.

Does he ever show up in the summer on his snowmobile?

Does he ever show up in the summer on his snowmobile?
Nah.............he's far too normal for that!

I would love to have a go at chains in the snow, looks like a lot of fun. ;-T. On someone else's bike though ! I nearly pee'd blood when they scratched the rim of Griso's wheel putting on a new tire ::(

Yeah there are a few but we don't take them all that seriously

You're a bad influence, Nick! ;D
Cheers,

I have one of those. No windshields, no snow and the sun is out. Sorry couldn't resist. :-*
-
Postscript: Doug made it half way home before the chains let go again. There was no damage to the bike (well, perhaps a little paint loss), and he was able to make the rest of the trip safely, although, with fresh, falling snow, it was a bit squirrelly......... ... The chains are now ballast until he comes up with a new 'fix'.

Be damned if that doesn't make me feel like a little girl.
Lateness.
-
I like the garden hose idea - I knew a guy who did his with rope.
-
at least put a piece of plastic hose over the chains to keep from buggering the rims

The beard?

Yup, the sight of chains on those knife edge flanges of those beautiful Borrani rims makes me cringe, but it's your dime.

It gets stale fairly quickly (-25c here this morning), but I'll take it any time over excessive heat (ie. anything over about 23c!)

My Ontario morning yesterday at -24C. I actually used chem warmers in my mitts, first time this year. And no, I didn't ride the bike there; the garage door was frozen shut :D

Nice cross-country ski trail though.

Wonderful trails. All on privately owned hilly wooded terrain that the owners keep open so locals can ski there. And hike in summer. And f'in cold this week!
