Title: New member
Post by: baxterday on January 12, 2015, 05:02:13 PM
Hello all,
I am a new member to the thread.  I am not new to Guzzi, having owned a Lario and a LeMans SE.  I just bought the bike I have lusted for after mistakenly selling my SE a few years back.  I bought a 1987 Lemans IV from a gentleman in NJ.  I drove up there from the North Georgia area and trailered it back home this past week.  It was listed on mgnoc, and still is,  (anyone looking at the 87 lemans in the mgnoc classifieds, it's sold).  It has just 14k miles and seems to be in really good shape.  It does, however, seem to have some aftermarket forks and clip-ons on it.  They seem lower and more sturdy than those on my SE.  The forks also have a dampener adjustment on the right side fork near the bottom of the fork.  They are Marzocchi, but none I am familiar with.  Perhaps off an older Duc?  Did Guzzi put these on some of the bikes in 87?  I am going to try and reverse the clip-ons or may have to find some used original ones.
I had the opportunity to buy back my old R100RS and almost did, when I saw the ad for the Lemans, I couldn't resist the Guzzi.  People often ask, "why a Guzzi?", I explain to them.  Imagine if a motorcycle lived and breathed, that is what a Guzzi is! They have a heart and soul, and you feel it.  The feeling I get whilst riding a Guzzi, was never felt on any other bike and I have owned plenty over the years.
Anyone in the N. GA area?

Welcome to WG, and good on you choosing a lemon instead of a characterless Beemer.  ~; ;D I *love* the dated classic 80's sport touring bikes like the LeMans and Lario. Long may she run... ;)

Thank you for the invite to the Georgia MG owners club.  I have also discovered that I have some really nice front forks and triple clamps, but really want the stock items back on the bike.  As soon as I am able to post a picture or figure out how to post a picture, I will.  Maybe someone has some stock forks/triple clamps for a IV Lemans they would like to trade?  The brake disc's on the front are full floaters as well, not stock.  Anyone want to trade?
