Post by: Penderic on January 13, 2015, 12:55:58 PM
Watching this vid today on the restoration and history of the Austin 59 Mini, 64 Cooper and other race modifications .... very very interesting!

(Lots of gear head stuff).

Started watching but looks like a: "hold it till evening Macallan and stream buy the fire" type of a clip.

My uncle had a proper left drive when I was a kid in Minnesota. Amazing winter car - excluding too deep a snowfall. At the other end, while whiling away a winter in Harrogate, England - I was able to often borrow a 3/4 race mini. What a rush. Sound and fury far exceeding the actual effect but fast none the less.

Such a missed opportunity for the English car industry that they weren't able to extend capitalizing upon it as say Honda did with the N600.

Today, we Mini about in our S Clubman. Too freakin' cool.

"... self preservation society..." to be sure.

Todd.

Wonderful video.  I owned a '64 Mini for a while.  Sure wish I still had it.
