Title: Linked Brakes missing!
Post by: baxterday on January 13, 2015, 04:19:11 PM
Well, I have started to explore the LeMans I just bought and have discovered that someone has removed the linked brake system.  That really bites!  I like linked brakes and had grown used to them.  I think someone has changed the front forks out as well.  The pin for the tank is also missing, perhaps because of the corbin seat that was installed.  I switched the clip-ons and got the height to where they should be.  It was then, I discovered two brake lines coming from the front master cylinder.  Sure enough, the rear is only going to the rear and the proportioning valve and accoutrements are missing.  Seems all the hardware for the linked system is missing.  Hopefully I can find the earlier owner that removed all the goodies and buy them back.  I will post a photo of the bike and hopefully someone will recognize it and know the owner that modified it.  I just can't figure out how to post a photo!

You're probably missing the linking splitter and the brake line to the LF caliper from the rear.  These parts should be very easy to source.  The m/c's may or may not have been changed out during the mod.  Those too should be easily obtained.  I'd check ebay and the usual suspects here for what you need.

It's a 1987, and seems to have been equipped like my first 1987 was.  Anyone on here that has removed their system have a interest in selling it?  Contact me via a pm and I will respond.  I'd really like to get them back in place, I like the system.  I posted a picture of the bike yesterday.

I posted the picture in the gallery, but it has not been approved yet.  I would expect to see it soon, as I just posted it yesterday.   Unless my saab in the background has created a problem.

You did not post it correctly otherwise it would have appeared in the post immediately.

Maybe he meant here: http://wildguzzi.com/Picspage/Picsmain.htm

If so, and I were Luap, I wouldn't post a pic with a Saab in it, either.

Any Italian car, sure.  But a Saab?  Puhleeze.   ;D
